Just letting everyone interested know that a turtlemania Silver edition surfaced last night. I have no intention of spamming so I wont post a link but it can be found on a very popular auction site.
Interesting how this is graded a qualified and no mention of it being a "silver edition"
-
Looking at the census again there are now 2 9.8 bone #1s (that seemed to change after like a day) and one qualified 9.8. Would not mind getting my hands on that qualified book
-
I can finally post in this thread, well as an owner now anyway.
much thanks to the flying one. love this book!
That is about the nicest 4.5 I have ever seen. WOW
-
Maybe 9.0
I've had it for about 20 years.
I would hold onto it. Its real pretty
-
Does anyone have a copy of this book and the original that they could scan?
Just the original.
Wow that is by far the nicest raw copy I have ever seen! Any guess what it would grade out at?
-
Kudos to cyberjad for a well packed and promptly shipped book.
Kudos to Chespirito for a smooth transaction
Thanks! It was a pleasure selling to you!

Anyone else notice there are 3 copies of Bone #1 in 9.8 now? Crazy!

One of the rarest TMNT books out there:
So what happened here? Well, the 2nd printing of TMNT #4 and the first printing of a new Mirage book, Tales of the TMNT #1, were sent to the printer at the same time. Somehow, the image for the Tales cover was used for the cover of the TMNT #4 book. The book then made it into distribution where it was immediately recalled. Almost all of the 60,000 books were then destroyed.
On the right, I've put my Tales of the TMNT #1 raw comic so you can compare to the error. Take notice of the Title logo (where the bottom photo shows the words "Tales of the") and also the Price/Issue box.
Sorry to outgrade you, but here is my copy:
and as a shameless plug I have a nice copy of Uncanny x-man with an upside down hologram in my for sale thread:

Fourteen months ago, CGC'd Bone books were selling at an all-time high. Now they're selling at an all-time low. Any thoughts out there?
Buzz of the movie coming out probably just wore off plus everyone started feeling the effects of this economy. Dont worry the movie will come out and the prices will go back up again.
-
Damn, I missed the 1st Goon movie. Does anyone have a copy?
Pat
DOH
Either the seller is a boardee, roamer, or someone tipped them off. Because the description was appropriately updated.
Hope I didn't offend them.
Pat
Hmmm I might know the guy Dont worry about it. The description was just a typo because I copied it from my Iron Man book I have up on ebay.
I really hate to let that book go, but Im trying to raise some funds for a large purchase.

I figured I would post in the "Bone Appreciation Thread" that I've finally started to really appreciate Bone!
Spent the weekend holed up in the apartment with a cold, so I took advantage of the down time and finally committed to read the whole series start to finish. I just finished the third book of the Scholastic color reprint volumes. I have to say.. the art is stunning. Smith is a master of comedic timing and the multitude of expressions on the Bones really shows his depth as a cartoonist. The color is absolutely phenomenal, too. I really find myself slowing down to soak in each panel before going to the next. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Love it!
w00t! Looks like your caught my sickness Michael

Sorry, docgo, didn't see it. I was just curious because I've never seen one. I was wondering how the grades and pricing for those came out honestly.
Most of them are pretty ugly. I feel fortunate with mine and its probably only a mid grade, although presents nicely. There was a really nice looking one that sold on ebay not too long ago. It certainly seemed high grade and went for a hair under $1000. Seems that no matter what the condition is they usually sell for about $750-$1000. Mostly, due to the rarity, I would assume. There are very few of these that seem to be left in existence!

Thanks for posting these beautiful books docgo. I was just thinking today its been awhile sense this thread has seen some action.
Thanks cyber! I've slowed down my purchasing and submitting since April but I should have new books every once in a while. The fact that Colin got banned has put a hurt on this thread too.
At present, my goal is to acquire the highest possible blue label grades for #1-11 and mostly yellow labels for the rest (my raws sent to witnesses). Should have a few more in the near future. The #37 is probably my favorite SS so far.
Very nice. I have raw 6-10 that I need to get sent in myself. Im still trying to decide if I want to go through with collecting the whole series or just do a 1-10 run and sell off the rest of my slabs.
So a random note that you might find interesting. Right now I am currently in Israel on business and Bone is apparently very, very popular out here. The TPB's are being sold in Hebrew at all the book stores.
I've seen blurbs stating that it's been translated into several languages but I've never heard how well the non-English books do.
1-10 is tough but it'll be fun. Other than your #1 do you have any of the first five in slabs?
Sure. I have all the first five in slabs Including Colins old #2 that really could use a resub
J
That #2 used to be mine which used to be rolo's.
Ahhh ah! Yes I bought that copy and + traded a couple of mine to colin awhile ago. Including another #2 that was rolo's. That guy sure did help us all out slabbing these

Anybody seen the Thorn precursor book from when Smith was in college?
Boostergold, sure have! I own a copy
This copy has a neat history with it too and is well documented. The book was signed and sketched and given to the owner of the bookstore where Jeff worked in college as a gift. The owner held onto it and when he passed away the book where inherited with many others. Now its out of the family for the first time and into my hands

So do you think prices on Avatar Goon #1 have cooled down a bit sense Avatar Illustrated has been "discovered" a couple months ago? I picked up a copy of Goon #1 for what I thought was a steal the other day...
-
Anyone know who owns the 9.6Q?
