Film & Comic Con Birmingham – Collectormania

You could try contacting them. Their schedule only goes through May, so it may just be the case that they haven't listed it yet. -

Try Scott's Collectables. They facilitate a number of UK shows. -
How to window-bag your books for SS (with photos!)
somewhereintexas replied to mschmidt's topic in The Signature Room
I would advise against using a Sharpie, as even when the ink is dry it can smear. Usually not a big deal for signatures, but definitely a problem for sketches. -
It's the same weekend as Fan Expo not that far away in downtown Dallas. Maybe there's a facilitator who wouldn't mind doing the Texas two-step that weekend.

Tips on photographing slabs?
somewhereintexas replied to oldrover's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
The scanners that work well for scanning CGC slabs are so old that the manufacturers quit updating the software long ago. As such, they pretty much are not compatible with any version of Windows in use today. That's where VueScan comes in. It enables the scanners to be used with the more recent versions of Windows. -
Tips on photographing slabs?

If you end up taking the plunge on another scanner, you can send me a PM for the VueScan settings I use. I got them from the scanner thread, but at this point it would take a while for someone to dig up that post. Otherwise it's quite a bit of trial and error to come up with good settings. And while I'm thinking of it, another tip is to scan with the lid open. That provides the black border you see in my scan, as opposed to the inside of the lid. -

The thread started in 2010, but is updated regularly. Most of the scanners described are readily available on eBay, some costing more than others. VueScan is pretty much a necessity, and the settings make a huge difference. I have a scanner just like this one currently on eBay, and it works great! Is this correct to be in a blue holder?
somewhereintexas replied to telerites's topic in The Signature Room
Lower grade books with sigs can get a blue label, because the "defect" doesn't really affect the grade. That being said, even on a higher grade book you can request a blue label and the signature is treated as a defect and the book graded accordingly. -
Up for sale are the Signature Series books below and some hard to find German blue label books that have Wonder Woman/Gal Gadot photo covers. The usual rules apply. PMs and offers are welcome, but the first in this thread controls. Priority mail shipping for U.S. addresses is $13 for any number of books. Insurance up to $50 is included; additional insurance is optional. International rates are available upon request. PayPal, money orders and checks are welcome. If you pay by money order or check and I don't know you or somebody that can vouch for you, I'll wait about 7 days after the money order or check has been deposited to make sure it clears.

I had just about given up hope on ever getting this done and was that close to selling this as a blue label. Kudos to @Kevlar for making this possible!

Your father might be able to submit the book directly with CGC without him having to go to a convention where CGC is. But Sam Peterson is the man with all the answers. Call CGC's toll free number, select customer service and ask for Sam.
