I had created a standalone thread (which now has been deleted) before I remembered about this one. I have some Anthony Castrillo cover recreations and other SS goodies for sale, including a Kelley Jones book (these don't come up for sale very often).

My Heroes moderns got graded today.
If you're lucky, you'll have them in hand before Thanksgiving.
Where I really screwed up was in not fast tracking grading onsite in Chicago my WDs from San Diego. The show may be cancelled by the time I get them back.
Even as awesome as I am, I doubt Balent would have pulled those for me and brought them to be onsited. I probably could have browbeaten Pierson, but I don't have enough Balent-whispering talent yet.
Modern fast tracks from San Diego would have been in hand way before Chicago anyway.

Don't worry. It should be Season 4 by then.

Last modern FT invoices:Latest modern fast track submission:Received on 10/2/12
Shipped on 10/17/12
Close enough to 10 business days that I have no reason to complain
In 9/27, 9/27
Out 10/11, 10/12
Wizard Mid-Ohio was Friday, 9/28, and since CGC was accepting submissions there, 9/28 might not count as a "business day."
If that is the case, the first invoice was out in 9 business days, and the other was out in 10, making both out on time. Even if 9/28 was not a business day for CGC, one invoice was still out on time, and the other was only one business day "late."

Anyone know what date they are on for economies?

That one book in 9.8 has been there for quite awhile.
I wonder who has it?

Is this the highest SS graded copy?
Saga of the Swamp Thing 21 2/84 D.C. Comics Signature 9.8 WHITE SIGNED BY JOHN TOTLEBEN STEVE BISETTE & TOM YEATES ON 9/23/12
Sorry, but there will be at least one more that is not in the census yet.

I asked for an inscription by Linda Hamilton on this one, and would have been happy with $%@....but she went the extra mile for Sean.
I can't believe the remark wasn't noted on the label.

Major kudos to Rich Henn for getting me a Bissette Swamp Thing sketch, and Troy for putting together one of his custom blanks on such short notice so the sketch could be on a Swamp Thing book.

I think this counts. I've shown it before in another thread, but I added two new signatures from SDCC 2012 - Klaus Janson and Joss Whedon. I kinda crossed movie lines with Chris Evans and Hugo Weaving with Whedon, but the "theme" is maintained. Would sure love to get Bendis!
Isn't he already on there?

Actually I remember Secret Wars #8 being the first time the Symbiote was introduced, then ASM #252
Chronologically it was ASM 252.
Continuity it would be SW8
ASM #252 was first. Then you had to wait till Secret Wars #8 to find out how it happened.
Dan
Marvel Age #12 was technically the first appearance of the black suit:
Granted, it just showed sketches of what the new suit might look like, it was published in March of '84.
I remember this vividly when it came out (my buddy Alex showed it to me in English class when I was a sophomore in high school), here's the page for those people that have never seen it (which I imagine there are quite a few of).
My memory really was right that originally the spider was red.
For those dumping on this thread because they think it's a rehash of the Hulk 180 vs. 181 argument, it's not at all the same. I was wondering why CGC includes on ASM 252 and MTU 141 labels that each "ties" with the other as the first appearance of the black costume when the two books were released at different times a few weeks apart in the same month. And then as someone pointed out, PPSSM 90 was released in between the two books, and yet the label on it simply indicates that it is the first appearance of the black costume in the title. Doesn't seem like CGC is being consistent on this one.
-
The responses are certainly bringing back the memories. I had completely forgotten about Spectacular Spider-Man #90, which raises another question--on what basis is MTU #141 "tied" with ASM #252 as the first appearance of the black costume, but SSM #90 is not?
If I am wrong Spider-man was on the cover in his regular suit on SS90 and the story is all about Black Cat searching for Peter Parker.
Spider-man is not in story to very end
I think Spider-Man "appears" back from Secret Wars in his black costume at the end of the story. The CGC label on the book indicates that it is the first appearance of the black costume in title.

I even remember Marvel Age #12. It seems like it included a "prototype" of the black costume, but it was not an exact match of the final version. I don't know if it was in Marvel Age #12 or somewhere else, but I seem to recall that originally the spider on the black costume was going to be red, but it was determined that the red would not print a consistent color even in the same issue.
-
I was looking at the label of a Marvel Team-Up #141, and it says that the issue is tied with Amazing Spider-Man #252 as the first appearance of the black costume. From what I remember, Amazing Spider-Man #252 was released first, with Marvel Team-Up #141 being released later the same month. As such, both comics show a 5/84 publication date, which may be why CGC considers it to be a tie, but were not released at the same time.
Does anyone remember it differently?

Just got around to scanning this one:
-
SERIOUSLY?
No one gives a rat's petutie that Gillian Anderson is coming to Fan Expo Canada? Seriously? This room was practically vibrating with excitement when she did a small signing a couple of years ago.
I'm excited.

Finally got around to scanning this:

more than likely baltimore then for the simonsons.
Both Simonsons were just added to Heroes, which is in a couple of weeks.

Been a little bit out of touch the last few days, so I'm running late to the party. I thought for sure there would be a Star Trek cast signed book in there somewhere, but the only one I saw was Medicar's signed by Nimoy and Shatner. Here's my best one from the original series. I also have some STNG signed by seven, but haven't had a chance to scan them yet.
And here's the Star Wars book that Sean was referring to:
-
Anyone have any books signed by Damon Lindelof (writer of LOST, Cowboys & Aliens, Prometheus and Star Trek 2).
Here's one:

STAR TREK FANS REJOICE! All five TV captains are now appearing in Philly!
I was already trying to figure out how to add Patrick Stewart to a picture I have with all five captains, and now I don't have to worry.
BTW Doug, awesome meeting you in Dallas. You are the man!!!

Now you're starting to catch on.
It's a vicious cycle that keeps repeating itself after each major con, and TATs for moderns and economies keep getting slower and slower because CGC does not want FT books to fall behind, so they always get priority.
