  1. Unless a CGC facilitator is attending the show (and unless there's someone attending who rarely does any shows, my guess is one will not be), Stan's will be the only signature you can get for Signature Series.  He generally has things set up to get Signature Series for anything he signs at a show, as long as you follow the proper procedure, but that would not extend to other guests at the show.

Hopefully he doesn't come out of this owing more than he does now, because all of this money is taxable as well.   I don't wish this situation on anyone, but to think the IRS has "forgotten" your debt is ridiculous.

Apparently the contributions are not taxable because they are a gift.  Here's a link to an update:

    Yeah, exactly.

I don't see how those are much more convenient than just buying painters tape? You still have to stick it to the bag, these you have to peel the top away and you still have to cut. Seems like painters tape is still the best, cheaper way to go and you can pick your size easier.

I think if someone wants to make a product to save people time, they just need to make pre-made, re-usable window bags.

And a thick backing board that won't bend!

  4. In looking at the description of the two Jim Lee "Experiences", the only difference I can see is that one included three unwitnessed signatures (although I'm guessing you could pay to get the signatures witnessed), and the CGC/Voldemort "Experience" included three witnessed signatures.  Seems like you should be able to get $120 (assuming that was on top of their regular facilitator/grading fee) refunded for the first three books submitted for SS if you purchased the CGC Experience and can show some kind of proof of that to ComicSketchArt.

Lost in Space #1 s/s Angela Cartwright aka Penny, Mark Goddard aka Don West, Marta Kristen aka Judy & Bill Mumy aka Will Robinson - $325

(a steal at typical signature rates)

**(Stock in hand, purchased last year and all are the ducks nuts uber high grade---I'd be shocked if one copy falls under 9.8....I grabbed these last year in anticipation of a reunion signing and I've got one scheduled for next month!)

I'll be at the Monster's Lair Comics booth all weekend (when I am not standing in line for Mark Hamill, that is) so do stop by and say hello if you're at the show. We will have a great selection of books starting at $1 all the way up to quality Silver Age, plenty of keys and a lot of books that have never been to a show before!

Are you the designated CAW for Mark Hamill?

This is where I was hoping he could sign. It's not really that small of an area but I wouldn't want him to sign over the X-Men logo:

Only way to be sure he doesn't sign over the logo is to do a window bag cut out for just the white area.  I have had him sign in a space about the same size, so that shouldn't be a problem.

  8. This same type thing happened a few years ago with Celebrity Authentics.  I may have the con or celebrity wrong, but seems like CA required holograms be affixed to anything signed by Brandon Routh at Dragon Con, including comics signed for SS.  Needless to say the grade on any comics that were signed and graded took a hit.  Ultimately CGC was able to work things out with CA so that now the hologram itself goes on the SS label along with the identification number.  Hopefully something similar can be worked out for Star Wars Celebration, or at the very least the holograms are not required if you do not want them.

    Is that with fast track?

Nope.  And they just got shipped today.  :whee:

Final progress of this submission is as follows:

    Regular Modern (9 books)

    Received 2/24/17

    Verified 2/27/17

    Graded 3/7/17

    Shipped/Safe 3/8/17

By my count, that's 8 business days from received to shipped, and if you don't count last Friday because it was the first day of a major con, then it was only 7.  No matter how you look at it, even faster than the stated turnaround for fast track.

There were a few books I had my fingers crossed on, and they all ended up 9.8, but then there were a few others I thought were locks that ended up 9.4 or 9.6.  I'll have to look at them more closely when I get them back.  And I had three 9.8's with grader notes!

Wonder if things will bog down a little bit with an encapsulation machine unavailable in Sarasota for a few days because it (and some graders) was sent to Seattle for onsite grading at ECCC?  Not to mention the impact of the extra submissions from ECCC, even with a chunk already having been done onsite.

    Graded 3/7/17
