  1. Up for sale are the Star Wars Signature Series books appearing below. The usual rules apply. PMs and offers are welcome, but the first :takeit: in this thread controls.

I will indicate if any books have been pressed to my knowledge.

Priority mail shipping for U.S. addresses is included. Insurance up to $50 is included; additional insurance is optional. International rates are available upon request.

PayPal, money orders and checks are welcome. If you pay by money order or check and I don't know you or somebody that can vouch for you, I'll wait about 10 days after the money order or check has been deposited to make sure it clears.

  2. Does Mark Millar EVER do any signings? Feel like i've never seen him listed on this.

Does he only do private signings?

I have a ton of Millar's stuff that I'd LOVE to get signed.

    Thanks!

The last Millar signing that I am aware of was in 2006.

He signed some books more recently. There's a Kick Ass on eBay right now that was signed in 2013. It's NYComics' book. Maybe he recalls the details.

  3. Celebrity Authentics gets a lot of grief, but they were able to add Michael J. Fox to these books for me and get him to personalize them for my daughters. Plus, CA let me submit the books under my CGC account at no additional charge.

My daughters are huge Back to the Future fans, and when I had the opportunity a few years ago to get autographs from Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson, I looked far and wide for Back to the Future comic books, and this was basically all there was out there. While it would have been nice to have been able to get one of the recent covers signed, still very happy with these!

  4. I sent in 3 books expected 9.8s, all 3 got 9.8s.. They were shipped last week, so I don't think grading is tight

    You were fortunate.

Imho, this last year has been the tightest CGC has ever been on Moderns - I do a ton of SS books where I crack out 9.8s and I've never experienced this many grade drops upon resubmission.

I like tight grading as much as the next guy, but I feel they've moved the needle way too far in the other direction now.

    +1

I'm not as experienced as many around here based on volume, but I think the hardest hit recently is the 9.6/9.8 line. And that's also probably the one that hurts the bottom line the most, too.

A 9.8 is allowed to have (I believe) at least 1 small flaw (i.e a crease), but when I look at my recent 9.6's, I don't see anything wrong with them. And grader's notes are also (typically) not given for 9.6 and above so that won't tell me the problem either.

I had the same experience with a recent submission. Usually when a book I thought would be 9.8 comes back 9.6, I can figure out why, but this time I have one I've looked at several times and am just left shaking my head as to why it's not a 9.8.

  5. Just got this in an email -

    "CGC Expansion Cuts Turnaround Times

CGC reports that it has drastically reduced turnaround times for ALL tiers. In order to keep up with the increasing demands of collectors, CGC has expanded its highly skilled staff and refined its grading and encapsulation processes.

CGC Director of Operations, Harshen Patel, attributes the company’s efficiency to a concerted team effort and sees more progress on the horizon. “We’ve made strong additions to the CGC team with talented employees who fully embrace our commitment to improving the collector’s experience through faster turnaround times,” said Patel. “It’s a great sign that we’ve been able to make these strides at a time when submissions are increasing. We’re taking additional steps right now that we’re confident will continue this positive trend.”

Notably, turnaround times for economical tiers, such as Modern, Economy and Value, which are typically the slowest, have been cut by more than half. Turnaround times continue to drop across the board. See below for a current list of estimated turnaround times.

    Current CGC Turnaround Times:

    Modern/Signature Series: 38 Days

    Fast Track Modern: 11 Days

    Value: 40 Days

    Fast Track Value: 24 Days

    Economy: 40 Days

    Fast Track Economy: 24 Days

    Standard: 15 Days

    Express: 5 Days"

So for the most part (+1 day for FT modern and +4 days for FT value and economy), everything is supposed to be caught up except for regular moderns, which are still almost double the stated TAT.

  6. I believe I own the only triple signed copy of this:

very cool, but not appropriate for this thread

this thread is when you have the single highest graded CGC SS copy of the book (sometimes that means you have the only copy)

Pretty sure it says one of a kind right there in the title. And "only" right there in his posting.

Of course, I could be wrong.

The first post in this thread, which established the "rules," is below. The general consensus has been that unique signatures ("the only copy signed by __________") or combination of signatures ("the only copy signed by __________, _________ and __________") do not qualify as "one of a kind" for purposes of this thread unless they are the THE highest graded SS copy (no ties).

I thought I would start a thread that would try and capture one of the really awesome things about doing signature series books. There are often opporunities to get one-of-a-kind books signed and graded.

So here are the rules for posting books in this thread:

    1. The book must be the only Signature Series book for that particular issue on the census

    2. You may post your book if there are other SS copies on the census only if your copy is the highest and only graded copy. So if there are a couple SS 9.4's and you have the only SS 9.8, then you could post it here.

    3. Please refrain from posting signed and sketched books as we all know that type of thing is one of a kind, plus there's another thread for that

3a. You may post a SS signed and sketched book if it is the only SS book, or single highest graded SS book.

I think this would be a really cool way to see all the "one of a kind" ss books out there!

  7. Way behind on my scanning, since I've had this for a while.

There's a fair number of these out there, but how many of them say "Leia"? I may need to send this back to get that added to the label.

Kudos to Kris (thecollector) for getting this done. (thumbs u

  8. Is John Romita Sr going to any cons this year? I know NYComics has a signing with him (and they're fabulous!), and maybe DWC/Celestial CBCS (they've treated me well in the past but its hard to overlook some of their recent issues), but I'd like to actually *gasp* meet him and get comics signed in person. Any knowledge would be appreciated. Does he usually show up at SDCC? I know he was at Florida Supercon last year but it doesn't look like he's going this year.

    Thanks.

He rarely does cons anymore. You have a better chance of getting the man's signature than meeting him.

I've got enough of his sigs to last a lifetime (5?). What I don't have is a selfie of me and him together holding some very modern wolverine comics signed by herb trimpe and stan lee, preferably with him effectively using facial expressions to convey his confusion over why anyone would want him, trimpe, or stan to sign a 2015 Wolverine comic.

I understand the feelings about Stan, since his only connection to Wolverine is that he created the Hulk, and without the Hulk there might not have been a Wolverine (although Hulk 180-182 all say "Stan Lee presents" at the top of the first page), but Trimpe and Romita helped design Wolverine, with Trimpe of course being the artist, so not sure why you think it's inappropriate for someone to want a Wolverine comic signed by Romita as a co-creator of the character.

  9. Wow, MST is all over the place. I've got a sub from 1/12/15 that's still chilling at graded in Florida.

not sure if it makes a difference, but I had it pressed by CCS first, and that took 2.5 months. Maybe they felt bad for me and put me on a 'faster (but still quite slow)' track.

Nope. I'm in the same boat, and still waiting for grades on mine.

  10. Oh you suck. I missed the deadline for the Lost in Space cast and regretted it from the moment I realized I was too late. I loved that show when I was a kid. It seems like it was on TBS early Sunday mornings.

    :cloud9:

You're just a baby. I remember when the show was originally on. All the boys wanted to be just like Will Robinson. lol

  11. You know what? Screw C2E2. Their site was a nightmare for listing guests because they put guests in order by the first name. Now, they have removed the names and one has to hover over the pic of the guest to get it. You wanna know who is coming to C2E2? Here's a link.

Maybe it was your computer. I just used your link, and could see the names without having to scroll over the picture. (shrug)

Weird. When it first happened, I assumed it was in the middle of an update or other maintenance so I came back that night (or the next day...) and found it to be the same. I finished all the others over the course of a week and tried again, finding the same. Sometimes, the first line has names but not often.

    Here's what I see...
