  1. Any chance the book is going to be offered in the members selling forum?
  2. Those are great books. Any Human torch books in the collection?
  3. MY newest purchase just showed up. Sold to me by a great friend who felt sorry for me. I need more of that. Sympathy not friends.
  4. After seeing all the "classy books" posted in this thread, I thought I'd add a few for the common man. I did pick up this copy fairly recently:
  5. One of the few threads I can actually participate in.
  6. "I'd never join a club that would accept me as a member"
  7. I guess part of the answer will depend on whether the Dow is 25000? Regarding double digit AF's in 9.4- What's the big deal? They will only be the second or third highest graded copy behind the 9.8 and 9.6's. I assume everyone has heard the term "grade inflation"?
  8. I fully agree. I would rather see the thread end with a fist fight. Half the fun of reading these threads is that they motivate me to trek into the kitchen for more popcorn. Although I'm not sure why?
  9. Thank you kind sir. I've owned a few copies of this book over the years but I found the colors on this sopy to be exceptional.
  10. Regarding BB's position on not reporting prices to GPA: He's correct in his approach. 1)As was said before, He has no incentive upside to report his sales data. to anyone. If he sees trends developing it's his proprietary info and he needs not share that with the general population. If anyone wants the data then subscribe to Bob's pricing service. 2)In my business, I make money generating ideas for myself. Many times I'm solicited for ideas and I will only give very general info keeping any specific trading thoughts for myself. The last thing I need is additional competition. 3)regarding comic trends- I'm more tham willing to share thoughts. It's a hobby for me rather than a business. I will caution that you should expect to get what you pay for. I will supply my comic thoughts free of charge. That's probably what it's worth.
  11. Maybe it's because "All my Life's a circle" ?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBM2PK1Ov4o
  12. I'm really a small time collector compared to many on these boards. Most of my knowledge of the hobby comes from the boards. I was pleased to see Steve's comments regarding his opinion of the seller Dave Anderson. When I read Steve's post I was alerted to the risk of buying from Bigloo. I assume Steve was giving his honest viewpoint. I noted that others defended Steve's view as well. It's true I had a one sided view but I also was sure that Dave Anderson would become aware of the thread about him. If Dave felt the need to defend himself I would take his comments into consideration. I thought Dave did a great job. I also read supportive comments from Dave's supporters. What is the truth? I don't know. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. I did learn (if I understood his post) that if I bought a raw book from him and felt the need to rush the book to CGC for restoration check/grading Dave would work with me. I will never get to the bottom of the He said, she said discussion but I believe Dave helped himself. After reading Dave's post I am still wondering why big collectors/dealers avoid this site fearing ridicule? I suspect he helped his cause. I read through this thread and I took note of the serious comments and laughed at some of the banter. This is a message board and the nature of one's comments shouldn't be censored. Should threads start with OSP (only serious posts) in the heading so only serious comments are elligible? My view is that those who see a post that is very meaningful to us should focus on the key points and ignore the extraneous material. As you say live and let live (or did i say that?).
  13. My post was simply offered for information that the 9.2 copy of Sub 35 was a 9.0 in a previous life (if indeed they are the same). Disclosure is good.
  14. I didn't see the book listed on Comic LInk. Perhaps it was removed? It is a great looking copy. As I get older am I becomming more cynical? Perhaps after seeing the resubs over the years I am simply more wary? Was the CL 9.2 copy a resub of the 9.0 sold on heritage in Sept 2004? Everytime I see a high grade copy I am interested in I go directly to the Heritage Archives. I don't even wait to pass go. http://comics.heritageauctions.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=813&Lot_No=1538&src=pr# My wife says she believes the books are the same. My vision must be failing as I barely can make out the very minor defects on the cL copy. She points to the brownish dot between the "I" and the "N" in the black Sub-Mainer letters near the top. She also says the spine stress on the green )(under Subs arm) appears to be visible on CL's copy. I can't identify the defects on CL's scan. Can anyone blow uo the scans? Are the books indeed the same? Are we seeing another crack out and resub?
  15. My guess is that this book was shown before. It's my most recent Detective pickup.
  16. Read a comic? What do you take me for? Naah... I bought the book slabbed. Maybe I'll ask the others to lend me their copy to read while I'm eating my peanut buitter and Jelly sandwich?
  17. Are the colors from the scanner off a touch or are they correct? Here is my very low grade copy:
  18. I can see your point. there's not a lot to like on the cover.
