  1. I did check CGC's grading/service page prior to posting, but couldn't find the info I wanted. Appreciate the helpful replies from everyone.
  2. Maybe I didn't word my 1st post clearly. Has anyone submitted a mixed batch and received their books all at once? Or does CGC deliver them piecemeal?
  3. You may have to wait a bit as Beckett is still not grading mags yet. They made an announcement in April about their magazine grading service, although they are still dealing with lengthy backlogs on their existing orders.
  4. Recently I submitted a batch of comics under the modern tier as they were all 1975-84 Marvels. I have another batch of Bronze, but now have earlier comics from 1972, some post 1975 stuff, and some magazines from the mid/late 70s. Is it recommended to combine all this into one submission, or split it up into different tiers/service categories? Wondering not only about cost efficiency, but also wait times, as I was told that vintage books take much longer to return. Any advice or tips based on 1st hand knowledge or experience would be appreciated.
  5. Wolverine Cap Spidey Thor Iron Man Punisher Conan
  6. Cool video showing a massive collection of books. Around the 4:35 mark, it shows CGC cases that look much sturdier and safer than cardboard boxes, or other CGC cases on Ebay or Amazon. Does anyone know where to buy these or what else is available for slabbed storage or transport? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRT_2erA__M
  7. Based on the climbing sales, I'd say that ultra high grade Marvel Tales definitely has some value. Some of the cover art for original or even reprints are doing well in NM or better. For your comics in the 7.5 range, 1 or 2 bucks each sounds right, especially if they reprint keys or include major villains like the Green Goblin. https://www.ebay.com/itm/185530478605 https://www.ebay.com/itm/115425806597
  8. I would agree with MAR1979. I used to be a fanatical WP collector if the price was right, but am perfectly content with OW/W as I've mellowed a bit. I find it sheer folly to pay a premium just for WP.
  9. I was billed for my submission a couple weeks ago (books arrived today). There was a packing slip with the slabs that has an invoice number and and total amount due. I can see by my credit card statement that the amount billed on my card recently was the exact amount for grading costs minus the $150 credit. Should I just ignore this or get in touch with someone to make sure this is resolved on their end?
  10. Considering a decent 9.6 can be had for under $100, I would not want to be on the receiving end of that 9.8 sale. https://www.ebay.com/itm/334405267724
  11. Wow. That was a healthy gain for just one year or so. Perhaps this book will break the $50K mark when the next pristine example emerges.
  12. This recent sale of Marvel Team-Up 54 seemed a bit pricey. https://www.ebay.com/itm/385110962047
  13. Those Bronze era Marvel Tales are some of the coolest Spidey covers. You can enjoy high grade art without depleting your wallet.
  14. Does Overstreet add new blood to their panel of advisors, or is it mostly the same group of people for decades who submit pricing data and write an annual market report? Is there a good balance of fresh talent and innovation in this area?
  15. This looks like some cool cover art for the next edition. https://gemstonepub.com/the-overstreet-comic-book-price-guide-52-black-terror/
  16. Thanks for the responses so far. I notice that it's mostly the older gents that still lean on the OPG, whereas the younger demographic seem to use Ebay or other online resources mentioned. I've always enjoyed the annual Overstreet market reports from various dealers, and found it to be a fun section that had some good insight. When I was 11, my aunt got me the 16th edition of the OPG for my birthday (25th Marvel anniversary cover). I still remember the cool adds and illustrations for stores like Fantasia (a small store in Yonkers NY) with multiple Golden Age mega keys in the display case. I was immediately hooked. As Marvelmaniac mentioned, sometimes the guides are nowhere near where the market is at - too low for high grade books, and too high for low grade ones.
  17. Hey everybody! I'm a long-time collector who took a break for several years from the hobby, but came back. Had a chat last week with a dealer who is also an Overstreet adviser. He mentioned that he took out an add in this year's Overstreet edition and that I should check it out. I responded politely, but after I wondered if price guides are still relevant, or if they are slowly fading into irrelevance?. I see that Comicspriceguide.com has 1 million users/members, but all I hear about are Ebay comps to confirm values. Is GPAnalysis worth the cost? Just wondering what the current situation is, and if any sage members can peer into their crystal ball and offer up some forecasts or analysis.
  18. It depends on the level labor you are willing to put in. Once the high end graded books come back, you may want to list on Ebay. Although many have a love/hate relationship with the platform, it's instant access to a massive market, and you have impulse buyers who will pay a premium. You can also consign with MCS as mentioned above or ComicLink or ComicConnect (they will give cash advances on quality books) - let someone else do the work if you want to conserve your time. I would recommend trying a few options as a seller, and then see what you prefer.
