There are a lot of theories and rumors about that, but the long and short of it is, he and Kirkman stopped getting along. One of the reasons (supposedly) was that Tony Moore couldn't keep up and stick to deadlines. But yet Tony stayed on as cover artist until issue #25, when Charlie started doing the covers as well. Hopefully Robert and Tony are on good terms, at least by now.

The Avatar #1 is Goon's first appearance. And it's not too tough to find, but can be a person_without_enough_empathy to find in high grade. You can find a good bit of high mid-grade copies floating around, but 9.4+ can be really hard to obtain on this issue. Although I may have an extra 9.6 #1 to sell if the price is right...

Seriously, though, Chris, you would probably have to pry those books from his cold, dead fingers. I should have known HE had the Albatross #2 9.9. I would love to own that book and it will just never, ever happen... There are some slabs that aren't even pictured, I believe. He got my #25 SS 9.8 with the sketch during my stupid, stupid eBay sale and it's not even shown. I'm trying to convince him to sell it back to me... Ya know, in return for messing up my good pair of pants.
