Waiting for this baby to arrive Thanks to a fellow board member. The Red Skull covers have always been my favorites from the Cap run.
Great book John!
Thanks Alex. It looks like this issue belongs in a Horror thread but I love it and the title "Weird Tales".

show us more edges
I upload whatever I took before I sent it out but it will have to be tomorrow..

Nice books guys. Well did anyone ever bother to check with Joe Simon if the skull on the wheel was intended to be the Red Skull? That would solve it.
-
This picture seems to show pretty significant tanning on the edge of the page which could be slightly brittle...
Not sure. But I can say that that edge felt no different than the rest of the page. I have some more pics of the interior ill upload maybe later on. But some of those pages look better than even this one.

Great book John! And yes so true that it is so close to the elusive #27! It definitely fits nicely into your collection
Thanks Brian. Too bad it doesnt come close to the value of the 27....I would have the 24/7 smile.
I wonder if any other 26s had the Bat notes on the labels?

cool book john!
Thanks Ben.... I like the fact that its so close to the big one.

What do you fellow boardies believe ? I took a few pics before I sent it out, do you think the pages look slightly brittle? maybe tanned to cream pages but not slightly brittle. Anyway, am I am definitely enjoying the Bat note on the slab. It gives it more meaning now. Possibly more value too

Finally had the 26 graded and although I pretty much had an idea what range the book would be in- I disagree with the pq given. I really do believe at worse the pages to be tan but cream was more of what I expected. Anyway as for the better news I did enjoy reading the notes on the label. Finally the 26 gets the recognition it deserves.

Nice books. And I haven't seen these around ina while. Good to see these covers posted. Personally 2 of my favorite prehero books are Na 16 and MF 45. Maybe one day ill add those two to my collection.

Aha! So you're the one who won the book.. I was actually the underbidder and lost Congrats on a nice pick-up! Glad it went to a boardie
Aha, so you're the one who drove up the price... (thumbs u
I contributed in driving up the price as well..... I thought when it was in the 3k dept... that it could be a steal

Is rarity (and the Action 1 ad) really that critical when determining value on these two that closed tonight:
New Adventure Comics #18, CGC Universal 3.5 = $638
New Adventure Comics #26, CGC Universal 1.0 = $7,956
That and the fact that NA 26 is one of the most highly sought after covers by Flessel.
one of MY biggest regrets was selling the NA26 8.0SP copy (2 twice )
so i HAD to win this!

That was a no brainer... I actually told a few people that Ben would do his best to grab this book. I should have made a bet congrats buddy. Glad you got this back. But its no big suprise that it was you

How did this thread end up on page 6 ? Anyway, I always wanted this issue and it looks like a nice mid grade copy. Im only the second owner of this beauty that was from a OO collection.
-
yes, i thought so too.
i actually though all the prices of the early action comics in the heritage auction were 'reasonable'...
Prices were down this auction. A good omen for us poorer collectors hopefully.
2nd time you got a Action 2 Ben, Keep this one. Its one of O'Mealia's best covers.

Amazing! It's not even a wrap, just a single non-superman page. Brittle at thathttp://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p4340.l2565&item=270738579507looks like someone really wants an action 1 page, its alread at $1k+ with a few days left
Personally , something like this is not for me. The buyer in the end might regret spending that kind of money for a page like this.

I didn't say "all" anywhere on my post. I actually like many of the board members and get along with quite a few. Anyway, I guess there is not much more to be said here. Going back to the regular thread to see what's going on in the world.

I don't trust joytner either. I bought 1 book from him, cause I was dying to have it. And I wasnervous as h.ell. associations with him have broken off for some time for obvious reasons. But it didn't stop some of the guys on the boards to still try and contact him.
Show me your Timely's and I'll show you mine. Have a Cigar...
