  1. I have said this many times...

But the 2nd appearence of Superman is (to me) more important than the 1st appearences of most other characters. :cloud9:

Not only that, but this book builds off of and concludes the story from Action Comics #1; so it's not just some random 2nd appearence tale.

The cover to Action Comics #2 may not be a Superman cover, but it's classic in its own right.

Only 25 copies have ever been certified by CGC period; it's just incredible.

This is a phenomenal acquisition Vaughn! :applause:

  2. Why do I keep finding these damn Actions, all I want are some nice tecs.

    action12.jpg

Nice solid book, cover detached and 90% split but nice paper....

Why couldn't it have been a Detective 27 instead, same month and all.

On a side note does anyone know if they share the same back cover?

    James G

If you show me an Action #12 back-cover scan...I can tell you. (thumbs u

  3. After seeing the copy that Metropolis just posted, GAtor's copy looks beautiful.

I don't see it on Metro or CC? (shrug)

What would one pay for that. It has nothing that can be used, can't be restored and can't be read. I am all over low grade stuff but I don't think I would want it.

    James G

Given the very obvious defects, what would you consider to be a "reasonable" price James? (shrug)

  4. Those look like higher quality pages than the one's you sold.

The current Action Comics #1 pages in my collection are No. 19 and No. 21; so they both came from closer to the center of the book (generally speaking and especially with books that are already coverless/incomplete, pages closer to the center retain a greater degree of preservation).

Plus they are both respective splash/intro pages from the greatest comic book in the history of our hobby...so that doesn't hurt either. (thumbs u

  5. as promised the "best" worse condition tec 31...solid fr- (.75 on cgc scale because it is slightly better than pr/fr .5 lol )

that said, it has decent image and paper is actually pretty derned nice and supple!!

was a library type check out copy (even has check out paper attached to interior of back cover)... a conversation piece for sure and cost a 1/3 of a good copy (thumbs u

4K seems like a reasonable price to me.

Do you plan on having this one slabbed prior to sale?

  6. I have recently modified my original CGC-certified Action Comics #1 collection.

Two slabbed pages have been sold (one on eBay and another here on the boards); but I have also managed to acquire another iconic page to pair together with my Marco Polo intro.

Page No. 21: the introductory "splash" if you will to the Pep Morgan story. :cloud9:

Talk about being able to literally hold history in your hands. :whee:

  7. I want that 4.0 :pullhair: Everytime I see it, I just want it more and more :frustrated: Of course I can't afford the darn thing :tonofbricks:

Agree theres so many books i want right now pretty much all pre robin tecs but i cant afford anything anymore so im stuck with what i got and it isnt much lol

Don't you have a Tec #29; have you posted it in this thread yet? (shrug)

  8. anyone know what happened to metro's 8.0 restored action 1?

it was there a couple of days ago...

nope...in fact, I inquired about it weeks ago, requesting a price, but never got a response with a price  and now it is gone (shrug)

Rick, wasn't there a Universal 4.5 recently available? (shrug)

I think it was also a Metro book. hm

It's in their upcoming, focused auction.

    Oh... doh!

    Any predictions for us Mike?

  9. No posts here since April?

Yeah, this thread is in major need of a :bump: .

So what's new in the Pre-Robin Tec world?

How about three CGC-certified, Universal copies of the second most important book in the history of our hobby: two currently available for sale and one not yet processed.

A big THANKS to Rick (Gator)!!! :applause:

    Incredible acquisition Alex. :applause:

I don't know of a collector who adores that specific issue more than you do; and true to form, you've kept the Tec #31 avatar this whole time.

It's not often that we have the privilege of seeing a book of that caliber. As a matter of fact (though I'm sure you're well aware), there have only been 5 universal copies certified higher to date!

To have one of the highest-graded copies of one of the most legendary comic books in the history of our hobby...yeah...I'd say that's pretty cool.
