  6. wow. this seems like A LOT of work to make $1000 (assuming it sells).
  7. Yes, i always buy my VF copper slabbed. What a thought out and cost effective solution. be sarcastic all you want. but it's the truth. if the OP did, he wouldn't be having this problem. we all know that grading is subjective on raw books. These do seem to be major grading flaws, though. Not quibbles. Still, I wonder for the OP what would make him whole? $10? A few more books? Seems like a very good deal and the 'wiggle room' should have been disclosed up front in the transaction rather than post sale. Is it simply lack of communication or did you really want compensation? Does seem like you got an exceptionally good deal to start with. If I were selling, I would acknowledge the oversight, but not sure I would give back money given the deal. Maybe a credit for a future purchase? Maybe ask buyer to send back books on his dime and then refund the price of those books within the deal? Curious what others would do in the seller's position. This is helpful for me as I contemplate starting my first sales thread.
  8. I'm reading some books I got for christmas: * Mail-Order Mysteries: Real Stuff from Old Comic Book Ads! * Oxford Companion to Beer * Fathers and Daughters and Sports
  9. I put it in the will that they get auctioned by a reputable auction house (heritage, etc) and NOT dumped on e-bay, pawned, or sent off to good will. I also coached my wife on how to know which ones are valuable and which ones not (by how I've bagged them). There's some provision for me to leave some specific books to my kids if they are interested in them. Basically my goal is to make sure my family doesn't get fleeced when I die.
  10. picked this one up recently. that smudge below the issue num is from where i pulled the price tag off the mylar. got this one from Bedrock.
  11. posted this in the CG forum, but these are all silver, so why not here too? (not 100% sure on this x-men -- could be borderline -- does bronze x-men start at 94?) filling holes, filling holes. . .
  12. Got these yesterday from rube11 -- won in some of his ebay auctions:
  13. I have 3. My scanner totally sucks. gonna have to think about a new one if I want to play on these boards.
  14. I was at the last one. More than 1 dealer with books then and I grabbed a few. It's kind of odd how it is publicized for sure.
  15. 40. Collected from 11-17 and then didn't pick it up again until 33.
  16. Some of these scans are amazing. Some questions for the gurus out there: 1. What kind of scanner do you use? 2. What are the ideal settings for scanning a book? What do you use? 3. Any tips on getting from book to scanned to posted faster? Seems to take forever for me.
  17. I'm in MN. What was the name of the shop and where was it? Nostalgia Zone. Did a google to try to remember the name and found their site. They actually have a pic of their set-up on the about page. Link wow. that just seems like such a hard way to browse. maybe because I'm used to drawers and long boxes.
