  2. FANTASTIC! EXCITING! COMIC! I've never seen this origin. Formic acid -- who'd 'a thunk it? "You took the wrong bottle, you i diot!" I'll have to remember that one for my students. (One of them actually did that yesterday. No superpowers yet.) THANKS! Jack I'm so happy this is not a slabbed book Bill. A treat for us all !!

  5. Great books Tom. I love Dr Strange. We want pics trmoore. You know how group shots excite the masses around here
  6. Cool book Mike. What is the Mirror Man's power? Nuthin that I could tell from just one issue. He's just a guy....smuggling papers with the names of Nazi spies in America, back to the states. It reminds me of how Marvel books were in the sixties......CONTINUED NEXT ISSUE Alot of the stories are that way. Lil Abner......continued next issue..... Mirror Man......continued next issue..... Looy dot dope....continued next issue..... Iron Vic......continued next issue.... Jim Hardy....continued next issue... Tailspin Tommy......continued next issue..... The Triple Terror.....continued next issue.... The only strips that are complete are the small Fritzi Ritz, Nancy, and Captain and the Kids ones. Captain and the Kids are always a good read !! (thumbs u
  7. Nice Bugs. One character who's cartoon persona eclipsed his comic book one me thinks. This came in yesterday. I've never owned one before, but I kinda like it. Its all sunday comics reprints and seeing as how this book is from 1942 some of this stuff I'm thinkin is from the '30s. One feature I don't ever remember hearing of before is titled Mirror Man. Kind of an espionage anti Nazi WWII story.
  8. Very pretty. And I don't remember ever taking notice of that cover before.
  9. I'm still waiting to hear from the manufacturer about trading in my Greggy 8700 and getting time payments on the new Greggy 9000. Gotta keep up with the Jones you know.....
  10. Nice Silver. I'll bet you are feeling the anticipation of finding those last three books. Every dealer you come across......every white box on the floor under some guys table.....could be the place
  11. (worship) (worship) I hope your gonna read that......and not just slab it
  12. Thats cool. Is he a World War 1 era hero.....as opposed to current (when the book was published) ? Early WWII looked a lot like WWI in many respects. There was incredibly rapid technological improvement once the war really started heating up. This book is cover dated March 1940, which means it was probably created in late 1939 or very early in 1940. Hitler invaded Poland in September 1939 so the cover image is probably more accurate that we would initially think. At the start of WWII, the helmets were the leftovers from WWI basically - those ones with the wide brims and in peace time with countries bleeding money, no reason to replace them. Once the war efforts picked up, new equipment and uniforms came into play. During peace time, I guess it made sense to use what they had. Pretty quickly into the war, the style changed to what we are used to seeing. A lot of 1940 and 1941 books will show those covers. For instance, this cover had to be drawn immediately after Pearl Harbor and displaying the different American soldiers. Oh yea.....those soldiers to the left of Captain Marvel look like the same kind of uni's and helmets as the Target book. Very cool stuff I must say
  13. Shhhwwweeettt!! Looks like a 9.0/9.2 from the front....maybe better. (thumbs u Thats some Kirby goodness right there
  14. Thats cool. Is he a World War 1 era hero.....as opposed to current (when the book was published) ?
  15. Pretty colors -- dancing green warthogs!! Jack I like this cover. Not sure why....I just like it. Notice that Skyboy has aready skewered two of those hogs, so either he is a really fast thrower, or he is making multiple passes over them.
  16. Wow -- nice copy of one of the best GA chemistry lab covers! I didn't realize that it was also the first Spirit. The unfortunate consequences of not wearing safety glasses in the lab. Jack thats beautiful skypinkblu
