  1. This just came in yesterday. Its #36 from 1944. There are quite a few WAR references in this one. The Bugs, Porky, Elmer and Henry Hawk stories are pretty good, but the Sniffles and Mary Jane story was LAME.

  4. Wow.....compared to whats been shown on here lately....this new book of mine is chicken droppings...... But .....its still whats new in MY collection.....so here it is...... Turok 20 from 1960 . Nice and flat, solid......bout a 7.0 - 7.5 I think Was advertised as an 8.0 and back cover too.......
  5. I'm not 100 % sure, but I think the checker tops only came out in one year...1966, and it was on ALL the DC titles......so take your pick. May as well stick with the books you like to read most, although, I suppose you could have a "checker top" collection

  10. They are ok. The writing is not as good as Disney stuff....but I am still enjoying them. Issue 85 is now my oldest one (1948) so not sure if the art was diff in the early years. I have 6 of these books now and the stories in each are the same . Bugs, Mary Jane and Sniffles, Porky, Henry Hawk and Elmer Fudd last.
  11. Picked these up recently....cuz they were cheap....uh....I mean....inexpensive. Numbers are 85, 102 and 117 with front and back. The 117 is real pretty
  12. Anyone ever see that old Danny Kaye movie called "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty"....? The place he works (in the movie) is very cool.....its a Pulp publishing business.....and a couple times he walks through the art dept. and you can see some of the artists working on their cover paintings.
  13. Almost finished with my Conan runs. Picked up these two just last week. The 4 is pretty.....the 8 is lesser. Also, I was reading this book called "All in Color for a Dime" ( a good read BTW) and the last essay is by Harlan Elison who talks about a comic he read as a kid called.....Jingle Jangle. He bragged about its wackiness so much I thought "I'm gonna get one of those". I had never read it before. Its OK.....not great but OK.
