  1. I this is one I've been trying to nail down for a while. I thought I won the Jerry Weist copy last fall, but my bid didn't go through. This one may be nicer and I suppose the movie brought it out of the woodwork.
  2. This is a great week to celebrate Sword and Planet fiction. First up we have Planet of Peril by OAK, with a bonus REH boxing story (I bet you guys no idea REH wrote so much pugilistica). It's low grade, but it has nice paper and it's signed by Frank Miller.
  3. Thanks! Didn't know that. I'll look him up. The signature is indeed something. His working on Sport Story is appropriate as apparently he was an Olympic track and field athlete when he was young.
  4. You know that's a tough call. I've probably seen more of the white and green cover, but that may just be a coincidence. They're both fairly scarce, though. Less scarce is the Garben of Fear chapbook put out by the same publisher (William Crawford) in 1945. That one had at least three different color covers, with blue being the most common, yellow next, followed by the rare green cover (I've only seen two or three of the latter)
  5. I've ordered mine as well. I really hope he does Phantagraph at some point too. Here's a couple of original copies of Marvel Tales #2 (there were two variant covers) with the REH story "The Garden of Fear." Roy Thomas turned this into a Conan story for CtB 9.
  6. I want to know if wrestling is on the level or not. I have my doubts.
  7. Awesome David! Especially that Al Williamson sketch! I appreciate all the kind words from everbody and I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. I had a great time doing it. I've had a request to post the JC covers one last time, so I'll close with that. Kaor!
  8. Yeah, he started listing them a few weeks ago. At first I got all excited, then as I started actually clicking on the listings at looking at them, well... not so much. Low grade and overpriced. but he does have some early issues.
  9. Arrgh! BZ pitched me a softball, but I've been so busy with training I haven't read this thread a couple of days. Congrats Flee!
  10. Thanks Rich, but I don't think my artistic skills are worthy of that. I'll just recommend everyone pick up the ongoing series from Dynamite, which is pretty faithful.
  11. Well, that's all she wrote. The series was cancelled at this point and replaced with the popular radio show character Captain Midhight. John Coleman Burroughs went on to create the John Carter of Mars newspaper strip which debuted late in 1941 and ran until 1943. John Carter would return to comics in Four Color in the 1950's (reprinted by Gold Key in 1964) , then at DC in the early 70's and Marvel in the late 70's. Currently there are several John Carter titles being published by both Marvel and Dynamite and they are definitely worth checking out (especially the Dynamite series Warlord of Mars). I hope everyone's enjoyed this project. I had a great time doing it. If you enjoyed this strip at all, then go see the movie. It's really good and you won't regret it. Jeff
