  1. Congrats Bill! That's an awesome accomplishment. Some of those books are tough as hell. Now let's see the group shot!
  2. Here's the latest upgrade to my run. Edit: Now that I have copies that I like of all the issues, I've started to aim for streaks of books with consistent CGC grades for fun. With this book, I got a kick out of completing the last 6 months of 1937 in at least CGC 9.4. Beautiful!
  3. A little late for the GA forum as its from January 1959, but this is the first issue of the REH and sword & sorcery fanzine AMRA. Many of the early issues have contributions by Lieber, Moorcock, de Camp, and art by Krenkel. This issue has an article by Poul Anderson and this particular one is editor George Scithers' file copy.
  4. And here's something fun. I picked up a bound volume of 1916-17 issues of Illustrated World. Although bound like a pulp, it was technically a "slick" and was sort of a precursor to Popular Science. Check out his early robot cover from Dec 1916. Could this be the new secret weapon that finally breaks the stalemate on the Western Front?
  5. Speaking of The Phantagraph, Donald Grant published a small limited edition 'best of Phantagraph' collection in 1967, edited by Wollhiem. limited to 420 signed and numbered copies it reprinted material by REH, HPL, CAS, Kuttner, Bolch, Merritt, etc. This is number 236 of 420.
  6. And here is its little brother, the June 1935 ish, illustrating what is far and away my favorite El Borak story. "Hawk of the Hills", a kind of modern era, non Fantasy, take on "Beyond the Black River" (Conan). What a sweet copy! :applause
  7. This is terrifying. Which part? The upper image of a four-legged monster, or the lower paste-in image of opening day at SDCC?
  8. Thanks BZ. It's essentially flawless. I've been holding out for a long time for a true F/F copy. Spine fading is usually a real problem with this book, but this one looks like it's never seen the light of day. Great paper too, which is unusual for a Gnome.
  9. Thanks Joe. Yep, he wrote about a half a dozen stories for SAS with a recurring character "Wild" Bill Clanton, a South Seas adventurer/smuggler type. The REH Foundation just released a nice hardcover collection of Howard's spicy stories last year, if anyone's interested in checking them out: http://www.rehfoundation.org/2011/08/13/pre-order-spicy-adventures/
  10. Thanks Bill. It's pretty much flawless. Just amazing to see.
  11. First Conan book published by Gnome Press in 1950. THis is about as flawless a copy as I've ever seen.
  12. I found it with some searching. It's the Fanzine Index by Bob Plavat and Bill Evans. Apparently it came out in the 1950's in a series of 5 loose leaf sections, then reprinted in 1965 in book form.
