Oh interesting @onlyweaknesskryptonite - CGC had told me directly that they were the only ones to be able to press a cracked SS book (since they were doing the cracking) - but I hadn't considered a certified facilitator - so there are certified-facilitator-pressers as well...?

Before Matt was at CGC he pressed a sig series for me as he was an authorized witness.
He pressed and subbed it back to CGC for me.

It does appear something has changed in their plan. This book which is struck through and has a new grade date is available on Heritage for sale. If the book has been cleared based on what CGC originally outlined it should have a new certification number and if not cleared should be in their hands as evidence based on the comments Matt Nelson provided in the recent discussion with West Davengers and 9.9 Newsstand.

If the book was never tampered with, why justify a need to reholder with a new cert #?

    joby3785

Had a nice little auction for some Hot Wheels Crack-Ups. Not a huge auction but it had decent interest with several watchers and some people bidding on it. 2 minutes before the auction ends joby3785 puts in a bid a few hundred dollars more than the previous bid. Wins the auction and then messages me immediately asking me to retract his bid. Now I have to start all over again because of joby3785.

Maybe he/she should get a "joby" to pay for their auction wins lol annoying when the try to, or retract.

Digging more into the CGC list where there are multiple books in a given submission

    Grade Date 07/19/2023
    flagged by CGC
    4286977    001 custom label
    4286977    002 custom label
    4286977    004 custom label

    not flagged by CGC
    4286977    003 normal blue label
    4286977    005 normal blue label hulk 181 grade 8.5
    4286977    006 normal green label hulk 181 grade 8.5

Guessing the flagged books (1, 2, and 4 of the submission) were sent back after 07/19/2023 for the custom label with lower grade books swapped into slab.

3, 5, and 6 of the submission appear to be raw book submissions

Editing... the next step I suppose is for him to swap the green 181 into the 4286977    005 slab and submit for custom label.

This sheds light on the 3 swapped, 3 for grading theory. Which in turn he/she was double profiting.

The little cynic on my shoulder is saying "Yeah, I'm betting dollars to doughnuts, all those scammer books with 9.6's in them are going to be cleared through as "actual" 9.8's and shipped back. I mean hey, why actually do the work, or pay out to compensate for loss when you can just tell people whatever you (and they) want to believe?"

That’s what I was thinking too. If borderline 9.6-9.8, retain 9.8, otherwise they will have to payout and they aren’t going to do that.

would be nice to see before and after grades.

That's not exactly what I asked.

If your slab is on the list, to not send it in and get it off "the list" makes you then liable for the faults...

The people I was responding to were finding books on the list, that they deemed "themselves" were fine. Thereby leaving those slabs on"the list" by not sending them in? For a new cert to get off the list? I was telling them not to do that

Ahhh, got it, makes sense (thumbsu

Just to clarify, are you guessing this is one guy and every submission he ever made? If that's the case it's great but CGC still owes it to the community to identify them so that anyone that bought direct from him can send them in as well.

Does the perps name become public record if a case is filed in court by CGC against them? I think it does.
