Actually, the $7025 sale is not a new high for this book. A 9.8 with the same three signatories sold earlier this year for $7.8K

back in April, you could have had this book for $3K

And the point also, it will never be "rare", as a listing is always on eBay. It's a matter of, do I want this in my collection?

I can live without a high grade copy.

  2. Need vs. want is no longer the goal for most. I was expecting to pay the usual $800 - $1000 tops for a 9.8, and stumbled on the market being overrun by "I have to get this book now, next year it is going to be worth 10K"

I am not in a rush to pay 3K+, I'll wait until next year to check prices.

    ASM 298 & 299 are a steady $350 - $450 range. Maybe purchase those and wait on a 300 later.

  3. Some big spending going on, am I the only one that sees that you need a loan out for these, and don't even want to look at getting an ASM #300 CGC 9.8. I can get a used car for cheaper.

    Thank you!

    Sellers market!!!

  4. That's true...but sometimes it's hard to know what the print run is. For example, what is the print run on the Wizard World variants? It's got to be in the thousands, right?

EXACTLY. I read that the Image Expo was limited to 1000? But god there is so many it's so hard to believe that only 1000 were made. Someone correct me here...Thanks

These limited WD print runs are not always what they seem on these variants.

I know for a fact that overprinting on some of these "limited" prints have managed to find their way out the backdoor of some of these events. Last years Image Expo color and B&W variants being a prime example.

    Point taken..... More books=more money

    Variants for everyone!!!!!

Was just coming on here to see whats up with these variants, seams like Walking Dead went the way of Witchblade and others, variants variants! doh!

  5. There was one the other day I was tracking that was at $1700 before I stopped paying attention. I'd be shocked if that auction wasn't ended early or taken down.

Oh, it was a reserve auction. no one bids on those because they are a pointless listing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Walking-Dead-1-CGC-9-8-NM-MT-White-Pages-Kirkman-Image-2003-No-Reserve-/360494141380?item=360494141380&ViewItem=&nma=true&si=UZqy5ZhqWbvJgywGcms26DFv93Q%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Edit: I like how the title says No Reserve yet it says Reserve not met by the price

    lol

Thought prices were coming down
