You can PM Flaming Telepath, Goldust, 1koko, Brasseye or a handful of others that live there and they know for sure.

Here's some junk from my latest submission to CGC:
Cerebus #2 @ 9.2 -- Tied at the top of the census (Universal)!
And some really nice signed books that I wanted to slab even though they aren't SS.
And for my one major upset in the submission.. this 9.0. I thought it was a 9.4 at least or I wouldn't have sent it in. Have to call for graders notes on this one..

Kudos go out to CheezyWhiz for a great slabbed counterfeit Cerebus #1. Great packaging with timely shipping... and once my business partner robojo33 cracks it and sells it as a raw original, I'll be rich!
*cough*
Wait, what?

I like the for the humor-impaired.
Kudos to Beau for the quick payment and easy communication. Glad you like the book.

Signed "To Mike" inside. Yay! That's my name!
How much did the interior sig bring down the grade?
I've been wondering that myself. The book is super sharp except for the CB spine creases. I thought it might get 8.5.. so maybe they knocked it 0.5.
I have another signed-interior Cerebus #1 in CGC 7.0 which was initially graded 8.0 by a reputable authority. My guess is that CGC graded that one a 7.5 and also knocked it 0.5 for the sig.

Yeah, PhiGam, it's mainly the Cartoon Books issues.. but I also noticed it in the first couple Image issues I have.
So they used crappy staples, apparently. It's crazy.. and frustrating. I just went through all the books I picked up. There are definitely a few 9.6 books in there, but they have the interior rust.
So how is CGC handling this book? Is this wear-and-tear or a manufacturing defect? Does rust on the interior staple prongs knock down the grade?
-
A question for those in the know..
I just bought a nice lot of Bone books, all of them nice NMish on the outside.. but when I look inside at the centerfolds, many books have rusty staples. Huh?! I've never seen this on a modern book. Looks like the outside chrome coating on the staple had chipped off and the metal underneath had oxidized. This is only apparent on the inside prongs of the staples.. the outside looks perfect. The pages are ultra white and there is no moisture damage which makes it even stranger..
Is this a known problem for Bone books?

Santa came a few days late this year.
Thanks to spideyinacase for an awsesome Air Pirates #1! Love it!
Thanks to klozd24seven for a equally awesome Goon #1!

Curious as to what is with the "counterfeit" book, have never heard of this per se...is this something common to this issue? And why wouldn't CGC just reject grading it and return it with that comment rather than grading and encapsulating it?
Some background info on the counterfeit:
http://rogerowengreen.blogspot.com/2007/05/cerebus-1-counterfeit.html
And some more trivia from a board member:
http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2635852#Post2635852
The letter from Deni Sim on the inside cover of Cerebus 32 (I think.. or around that issue.. 1982ish) describes their reaction to discovering the counterfeits. They are tough to find in high grade (just like the real thing). I heard that Dave Sim will (or used to) sign Cerebus counterfeit books but would forge the signature of another artist.. like "Here's a fake signature to go with your fake #1 -Frank Frazetta".. although I haven't seen one of these signed books yet.
It's a part of comic history now.. and especially cool if you are a Cerebus collector.
-
My first CGC submission.. got a counterfeit Cerebus #1 9.4 tied for top census, and the only blue label 9.8 Cerebus #12 and some other 9.6s. That's the good news.. the bad news is that they gave me a full point lower on my Cerebus #1 and #2 than I expected (and paid ).. and on top of that the case for the authentic Cerebus #1 arrived all scuffed up on the inside.
Win some, lose some.

Great thread!
I saw this photo:
And wondered if hanging by the corner at a newsstand was what caused the damage to the UR corner of this book:
The marks are on the front and back cover. I have a few King Comics with the same markings. Anyone know for sure?
I kinda like knowing my books may have been hanging on display at a newstand. Is there a name for this kind of damage feature?

Thanks to joeypost for a beautiful TMNT #3.
