There is a way to potentially fix NR's by yourself, but it can be risky, and a delicate touch is required.  I found a fix that was posted online, then made a couple of personal touches to the fix.  I was able to fix the front side of about 50 percent of my Modern slabs, maybe more.  I don't do business with CGC anymore, so I found my own way.

I saw some tips on YouTube, ie. to slide some strong piece of mylar through the bottom of the case and to wiggle it about, and I did try it one on a low value book but to no use.

This book on the other hand was just so thick to begin with, go to be 80+ pages.. Almost makes you wonder that perhaps it should've been a square bound issue. And perhaps the larger CGC case could be used with these thickos

And I agree, on the scan it looks great. Looking at it dead centre in certain light its ok. But at most angles its hard to miss.

  2. Hi,

So with my latest submission I had some issues with Newton Rings. I did come across them before but this is the most extreme.

The attached is the absolute worse I have seen, barely anything left unaffected. The dark patches are the actual unaffected parts. The back cover is not much better either. Instead of a black cover I ended up with a swill of rainbow

One thing the worst affected books have in common that they're thick, not you bog standard 32 page comics.

What do you do since May's policy change regarding mechanical errors and these do not qualify.

I wasn't aware of this change until I requested a reholder under ME.

  3. Hi all,

I wondered how CGC would grade a book that has the Digital Redemption Sticker misplaced by (seemingly) the manufacturing process.

As you can see on yh photos there is no evidence that the sticker was ever in the space where it was meant to be( no indentation on the page, no residue; on the other hand it was sticked to the opposite page. As if it was placed upside down and got stuck to the next page.

How much does it effect the grade of the book in and of itself?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello @KBSKards,

Thank you for these images. Because you are an international customer we will need to create an international label for you to return this. Please send us an email requesting an International Shipping Label to return this to be reholdered. Please include the image of your book with the label visible for our team to confirm this. Also, I have made a note on your submission in our system to let our team know that this has already been approved to be returned. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Thanks @MattM CS, which address should I send the email to?

  6. Hi!

I have submitted the minimum of 25 modern books for grading with the PreScreen option. Question is, how and when is my CC charged?

Are you charging the CC after the PreScreen so you know how many books are charged the full $24 and how many are just $8? - or

Are you charging $8 for all the books upon receipt and then another charge of $16 for each that are actually being graded? - or

Are you charging £24 for every book in the submission and give a $16 refund later for each book that didn't reach the minimum grade?

These are the three scenarios I can think of.

    Many thanks,

    S.O.

  7. Hello,

I just wanted to ask, can I send separate submissions in one parcel? I would like to send 2 books for one of your In-House signing event and some other books to be just graded. If the SS submission is marked with the initials of the artist, would it be acceptable?

    Regards

    Sandor

  8. Hello

I am currently a Premium member because the $150 credit obviously pays for the $149 membership fee. Now I am considering to upgrade to Elite to get 10% off but seems like I would have to still pay $288 (after some $11 discount), which I don't mind paying if I do I get another $150 credit? Because if not, I would expect to pay $150 for the upgrade, since I already paid $149 for Premium.

    I hope I make sense.

  9. Hey there, I would like to get an answer to the following question.

I noticed that in the CGC Private Signing Schedule the MCM London Comic Con is also listed. How would that work in reality? Are there CGC approved witnesses present at the time with whom I can get the books sent for grading or perhaps they give me a certificate, which I then include in my submission?

This would be my first Con to attend so I am completely oblivious as to how this works.

    Many thanks
