Just another heads up on some cheap games.

The Sony Playstation Store is having a flash sale for today only (Thursday 3/27/2014).

You can pick up Thief or the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition game for the PS4 for $29.99 each, which is half off. (You can also get them for the PS3 for the same prices here and here).

Also...they have added a Bioshock Sale and a Hitman Sale to their Spring Fever promotions.

  3. i would like to nominate Vintagehouse for the PL. His one and only post was a sales thread with 3 nice books. I took the chance and paid him via paypal. He tried to add more books at great prices, and i told him i will take those also, only after i received the first batch. At that time he stopped reading or responding to PM's. I just got my money back via paypal resolution center. I doubt he comes back here under that name, but i figured i would let everyone know. Usually when the deal is to good to be true it usually is! #7440272 - 02/12/14 03:56 PM Sold And Closed! # days ago i pmed him again letting him know of the nomination. unread

    Link doh!

  4.

FYI on another sale I just noticed. I think these are getting ready to end...but they are active right now.

  5. Which TR game has Lara in Venice, shooting guns at bad guys while she navigated the waterways in a boat? TR2 right? I used to like that one.

    Yep. (thumbs u

I really liked that one too......and the first one with all of the monsters/creatures in it.

I already have all of the Tomb Raider games on discs....but went ahead and purchased Tomb Raider 1,2,3,4, and Underworld for my hard drive since they're so cheap right now.

  6. Just a heads up for anyone interested in playing some old school Tomb Raider games for the first time (or replaying them)....the PlayStation Store currently has the following games on sale for download to the PS3.

    $3.99 Tomb Raider (original)

    $2.49 Tomb Raider II

    $2.49 Tomb Raider III

$2.49 Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation

I get so confused about these - I have the TR Trilogy HD set, which includes a remake of TR1 right? But TR2, TR3 and TR: TLR are not on the disc, original or remake, right?

    That is correct.

In your Trilogy set, you should have:

    Tomb Raider: Legend

Tomb Raider: Anniversary (which is a remake of the original first game with better graphics)

    Tomb Raider: Underworld

According to Wikipedia...after Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness flopped, Core Design was sold to Rebellion Studios and eventually removed from the Tomb Raider franchise completely. Crystal Dynamics then took over and relaunched the series with Tomb Raider: Legend, which brought the character back to its tomb raiding roots.

Following the success of Legend, a remake of the original was produced and released almost a year later, called Tomb Raider: Anniversary. The game expanded on some of the plot lines, further setting up the follow-up Tomb Raider: Underworld, which featured the conclusion of the loose trilogy that forms Legend, Anniversary and Underworld. It does get a bit confusing.

Here is a list of all the Tomb Raider games in the order they were made:

    Tomb Raider (original)

    Tomb Raider II

    Tomb Raider III

    Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation

    Tomb Raider Chronicles

Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness (this game flopped)

Tomb Raider: Legend (Crystal Dynamics took over and relaunched the title with this game)

Tomb Raider: Anniversary (remake of the original first game with better graphics)

    Tomb Raider: Underworld

Tomb Raider (2013 reboot of the series)

  8. So picked up Titansfall. Raced home to play. I needed to update my XBox One so I let that go. Then I tried to sign in! I can't sign in! Apparently they got extra servers for the game, but didn't prepare for the amount of people trying to sign in…

Just play in the single player campaign mode.

Producer Reveals Plans to Unearth Worst Game Ever (Link)

Any gamer worth his or her salt knows that one of gaming's most infamous urban legends is actually true. In 1983, Atari dumped 10 truckloads of "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial" for Atari 2600 in the New Mexico desert, but one film crew is now on the cusp of unearthing them as a historical study.

Gamers with a taste for the morbid may already be familiar with "Dumping the Alien: Unearthing the Atari Graveyard." This documentary film from Lightbox Productions and Fuel Entertainment chronicles filmmaker Jonathan Chinn's quest to track down the final resting place of the unsold copies of "E.T." Chinn held a panel at SxSW 2014 to give fans their latest look at the film's progress.

"E.T." is widely hailed as one of the worst video games of all time, even though more than 30 years have passed since its initial release. This nonsensical action/adventure title had players guide the eponymous E.T. through a series of nondescript pits to collect pieces for a device to "phone home." It was ugly, repetitive, shallow, boring and entirely too difficult.

"E.T." was not only a disaster unto itself, but a portent of things to come, Chinn explained. As one of the first video games based on an existing, licensed property, it set a low standard for movie tie-in games that persists to this day. The game lost Atari more than $500 million in sales, and led to the company declaring bankruptcy.

Once Atari folded, the great video game crash of 1983 followed. Consumers spurned video game consoles, manufacturers were loath to produce them and gaming nearly disappeared forever. Only Nintendo's entrance into the market a few years later reversed gaming's fortunes.

This cataclysmic event which began as a single, bad game is what inspired Chinn to produce the film. Chinn himself is not actually a gamer; rather, he believes that the story has universal appeal. The story of "E.T." is a story of how corporate hubris nearly destroyed a multibillion dollar industry, he told the audience.

To save face (and warehouse space), Atari buried the unsold copies of "E.T." in the New Mexico desert, but never specified exactly where. Their fate has fascinated gamers for three decades, and Chinn believes he has discovered where to dig. If his information is good, the excavation could commence within a month or two.

When the dig begins, Chinn invited anyone and everyone to join him in Alamogordo, New Mexico to see what he turns up for themselves.

"Dumping the Alien: Unearthing the Atari Graveyard" will premiere once Chinn assembles his footage, exclusively on Xbox Video. You'll need an Xbox Live subscription if you want to see how Chinn's real-life saga ends.

  10. Appearances to the contrary aside, I don't really feel strongly enough about this Cemetary guy to engage in a big debate over semantics, but just quickly: I don't know that what he's doing is circumventing the spirit of the PIF rules at all. It's not uncommon for new boardies to be encouraged to go elsewhere and up their post counts so that they can participate.

"New boardie posts a load of rubbish and changes his name" is hardly newsworthy, is it? Forgive me if I read the earlier comments as people thinking they were cleverly unearthing some kind of scam.

Oh, and on Kav - I was (flippantly) encouraging people to rage against inconsequential posts, not against him in particular. Although I will confess to being annoyed by the frequency of his posts, if not the style.

Then why even have the stupid rule? Especially if someone can just be encouraged to take an hour and make 50 single word posts to get around it. If that wouldn't be considered circumventing the spirit of the rule...then I don't know what would....because it makes the rule absolutely worthless.

And who said it was newsworthy? You seem to be making more drama out of this than anybody else is. Once it was discovered and pointed out, it was obvious what he was doing...and he was getting a few jabs for it. Plain and simple. The fact that he then went and requested a name change afterwards just made it suspicious. And as I said above...that could be a coincidence...but the timing was a bit odd.

  11. Why are people ragging on this guy? He wants to get to 50 posts - it's not like he's hiding it.

If he's posting inane things in order to do so, that puts him in company with about 99% of the boardies here. You're acting like he's some kind of scammer. He wants to participate in the PIF thread, and he knows what the requirements are. Look, if he ends up joining in and junk-donkeying up the joint then by all means bash him. Otherwise, give it a rest.

If you really want to rail against inconsequential posts, go and stalk Kav or something.

Why in the world would you try to encourage people to rail against Kav? He may annoy some people with his posting style, but at least he's making an effort to contribute to the boards and engage in genuine conversation.

You've been here long enough to know that nobody is "railing", "ragging" and "bashing" this guy and treating him like a scammer. But if someone is going to try to circumvent the spirit of a rule (without technically breaking it)...then they should expect to take a few jabs. Especially after 50 posts of "nice book". Beyonder took notice of this effort on the 26th at 8 p.m.....and by 9 a.m the next day, the name change had been requested and granted. Coincidence? Possibly...but a pretty strange one.

  12. Anyone else watching 'Cemetery' carpetbomb the marketplace? :insane:

    Updated that for you.

    Just noticed that....

Looks like magic number 50 is approaching.

Now that the magical goal has been reached and all posting activity has stopped....what am I supposed to do?

I mean........how am I going to know when something is a "nice book".....or an "amazing book".....or a "cool book"?

  13.

I finally finished Red Dead Redemption today.....two and a half years after I thought I had already finished it. doh!

******* MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW THIS LINE *********

I really liked the game and there was kind of an ending to it and then it put you back at home with your family. I thought it was strange that I never saw the game credits roll....but all it had me doing was simple and mundane farm tasks....so I thought it was over and you could just play these mini-games if you wanted to keep playing.

However, it always sort of bugged me that I never saw the credits, so I figured I might as well check online. A 10 second search told me that the game was not yet over. :boo:

So, I stopped reading before I saw any big spoilers and went back and finished the game. I couldn't believe it...I didn't even know that John Marston frigging dies at the end and that you finish the game as his son! The last time I played the game was in November of 2011. It was nice to finally see those credits at the end of the game.

  14.

Ok...stupid noob gaming question for those that have played L.A. Noire or Max Payne 3...or I guess any game with downloadable content made available after a game has already been released.

I just purchased L.A. Noire and the Rockstar Pass for it...as well as the Ultimate Edition of Max Payne 3 (which I take it is the game with the Rockstar Pass bundled with it). My understanding is that the Rockstar Pass gives you all the downloadable content for each game.

My question...since I've never actually purchased downloadable content for a game....is what is the best way to play them?

Should I play through the games first and then download the additional content and play it?

Or is it meant to be downloaded all together and played as one continuous game?

    Or does it even matter?

  15. You haven't played Dead Space yet?! :o Dude, you are going to be in for one hell of a scary and sick ride.

Yeah...I've heard really good things about it....I really need to play that one.

I also got Infamous as a free download from Sony when they had their online service go down a few years ago...still haven't played it either. doh!

And get this....when I bought my PS3 (fat version) years ago...it came with Metal Gear Solid 4. It's still unopened. :boo:

  16. I would have put the $5 extra on just to be able to play RDR off the HD.

Yeah...I actually thought about doing that and probably should have (I suppose I could still download it on sale for $7.50 right now). I just figured I probably wouldn't use it since I already have the disc version and have completed it.

I'm probably not what most would call a typical gamer. I've played and loved video games since I was a little kid....Atari 2600....Colecovision....Commodore 64....etc.

I still enjoy games, but I just don't seem to play them that much. I also can't seem to pass up a bargain...and when a game I've been eyeing goes on sale for $20 or less, I grab it.

Unfortunately (or fortunately...depending on how you look at it), I now have a huge backlog of games I haven't played...including 9 on my hard drive and about 20 disc based games...most still unopened. And many of these are big titles like....Uncharted 1 and 3 (still need to pick up 2)....the last 2 Tombraider games....God of War II and III.....Bioshock.....Dead Space.....Assassin's Creed....etc. doh!
