  1. Jeff,

The only deal I've ever had go bad here is the one with Mike Jacobs (aside from the usual problem of getting broken slabs). As compared to ebay, I actually like the boards way better. On ebay, you run into too many people who are just about squeezing out every last dime. Here, not so much. And the worst packing I've ever gotten here is simply a short priority box which I hate because, if your luck is bad, something hits the ends as it gets thrown from Post Office bin to bin, and the CGC has nowhere to go and gets damaged.

On ebay, I just had a guy send me a slab in a shirt box. He literally took the shirt out of this incredibly flimsy box almost exactly the size of CGC, used the tissue paper as padding, and taped it shut with scotch tape. The CGC was almost broken in half. No one here has ever sent me a CGC in an envelope either.

Of course, the best thing about the Boards is that there are other true collectors here, not just dealers. I've gotten some fantastic stuff here and had people express that they are glad it's going to a collection (I know it's usually about the money too but still...) not someone who just sees it as a commodity. There are some wonderful people here (and I even read a post from Calamerica which I agreed with and thought was spot on lol ).

    And finally...............................

    John,

I'm sorry for any trouble I have caused you. I have been paying back board members and will have you paid soon. I have no problem with your post, I would be mad too. Just for the record, I have paid comicseekers, foolkiller, and lizards2 so far.

I did not contact you earlier because I wanted our next contact to be me paypaling your money.

    Michael,

Well, it is certainly odd to get a message from you as soon as I posted that. I bought the book from Socalcom thinking it was the book I bought from you but did not get a chance to check and make sure until 30 minutes ago. What happened to the other Daredevil (68 cgc 9.4 white Pacific Coast)? Socalcom has been posting a bunch of nice 60s Marvels lately which is odd for them as they usually post moderns (I got outbid on a Tales of Suspense from them just today). In any case, if you repay me, I'll hold no grudge. Hell, I bought it cheaper from Socalcom than I did from you. Lord knows I'm not the best Christian in the world but I do believe completely in forgiving people who try to make it right.

This would have never happened on ebay.

    John,

I tried to ask you a question in regards to seller socalcom, because I almost bid on a book, and was shocked to see that you have me on ignore. (shrug) I do apologize, if we've ever had a run in, but I do not believe we have?

Brian (Foolkiller), trmoore54 (Tom) and many many other boardies have dealt with me on the boards, and in person and on ebay (cujobyte29) I have a 1700+ 100% positive. I own a bookstore, and am genuinely concerned about the block. You purchase items off my friend, Howard (comic4848), so just wanted to clear up anything in the past... if you were unhappy about any type of purchase, please tell me so I can make it up. Owning a retail store, I always strive for confidence in my sales, and many here will tell you my grading/service is good.

    Quoted this for you.

If John (Here4now) has you on ignore...he won't see your post unless someone else quotes it in response.

  2. i'm currently working on a resolution at this time with connor to make sure all are reimbursed. so whoever was impacted by this, send me a pm with your email address, how much is owed and if possible a link to the thread that you bought the books (just for verification). it looks like it is almost impossible to get him the money to disburse at this time and i and everyone else wants this over with asap.

    j

You're a good man J for taking all this on to resolve the situation.

Thanks for showing so much care. (thumbs u

I'll second that. Looks like the little turd gets away without even doing any legwork at all.

I seriously hope you learn from this CAPFreak. There won't always be people who are willing or prepared to dig you out of your own holes.

Guys...in defense of Connor, I'll have to take the heat for this.

I had been working with Connor via pm's to try to get this straightened out and everyone paid back as quickly as possible. Because of the previous mess with his Paypal account, it didn't look like that was going to be a reliable option. The only other option would have been for Junkenstein99 to mail Connor the $100 he still owed on the book, and then for Connor to mail out the remaining refunds he owed to people once he received these funds. Not the best solution either.

So...when I saw Junkenstein99 offer to disburse the refunds for Connor to ensure everyone got their money in a timely manner...I pm'd Connor and suggested he take him up on his offer.

Is it a perfect solution? Absolutely not, and I apologize for that. However, my ultimate goal was for everyone to be made whole again and I figured this was the best option for that. I just figured everyone was getting tired of dealing with it and I'm sure Connor was eager to put it all behind him as well.

So, if anyone needs to yell at someone or vent their frustration, please direct that towards me. I certainly won't hold it against you, as I know this whole situation has been a pretty major headache for a lot of you. For what it's worth, I would like to humbly apologize for stepping into the middle of it without being able to come up with a better solution.

  3. I'm thinking of getting a group of fans together to go to his house and publicly confront him until he signs a bunch of autographs.

If that fails, I'm thinking a paper sack full of dog with a crude drawing of spider-man on it might do the trick. No need to light it...one look at the spidey figure should send him into a fit of rage.

And you wonder why he shuns the spotlight. He created what he wanted and got what he wanted out of it. He doesn't owe anyone anything and despises those who believe that he does.

Not really. Although now I'm starting to wonder if my sarcasm was as obvious as I tried to make it seem.

  4. Well.. if you guys are doing it.. maybe i should try my luck as well..

I think a few of us should, what' the worst that could happen?

I'd love a reply alone, even if he just said, 'leave me alone', haha.

  5. This looks just like the cover of a Marvel (X-Men?) cover that I've seen. Do the different publishers have a cow when their covers are copied like this?

It's called a cover swipe. ton of comics are doing it now.

I'm aware of certain publishers doing a cover swipe off of their own comics (Marvel has done it a lot). I just haven't seen it done much where a publisher does a cover swipe off of a different publisher.
