Yeah 30 bucks... and it does look nicer than a fine! How come these sellers are never around when I'm browsing the Bay? This person just sold 4 of the most classic covers from that series for around 100 bucks(!)... where is that jealousy graemlin?

Most of the Gaines books are perfectly (or close) centered, adding to their eye appeal. I'll pick one up eventually!

I just tripled my non-EC pre-code collection. Thanks dear tax return! Can anyone advise: i) Are these any good? ii) Payette's grading? I don't expect to get these in my paws anytime soon, since they are going to the States, then Canada, then here in the UK A winding road!

A well deserved wait, nice book. What made you decide to sway for your usual, aside from the obviously cool cover? After seeing quite a few sweet books from other publishers, I couldn't tame the sense of curiosity. The cover - while not overly graphic - was a little bizarre in the coolest of ways. The price seemed fair, so I pounced! There are a few more I have my eyes on... but my desires are bigger than my budget right now; so it'll be a tough slog to fill the wish list. Not a bad start though.

I've had my eyes on a couple of titles... not this one in particular, but the cover was too cool. Usually in these "skull painting" types of covers etc. the painting is the one with the skull - not the subject. Weird 'n' wild indeed!

Speaking of Star... Just picked up my first one (and only my second non-EC pre-code). Seemed a fair price, so I couldn't hold back. It's been about 6 months since my last purchase.

One of the nicest problems to have! Sweets books AJD... I've been outside looking into the FH world recently. If I weren't a broke-azz student now, I think I'd suffer the same affliction as you. Until then, I guess I can live vicariously.

Sweet additions to your stash! Vault #39 has an under-rated cover. But considering the bidding on that book, I think people might be coming around. Some great prices on the others, I thought. Congrats... One day I'll have (just one) Gaines copy!

GPA is a handy tool, but some books just don't come up very often. For that reason, I've tended to avoid its use in the past for pre-codes. But that's just me.

There was quite a few really nice pre-codes closing on Heritage yesterday... Anybody win any? Hoping to live vicariously through others...

Man, this was one of the first books I remember buying when I was 13. Sold mine 3 years ago I think. The 9.0 is probably a let-down for you, but it still has nostalgia value for many!
