  1. UPDATED PRICES

$200 - Detective Comics 411 - VF range, cream pages (pressed by Josh Avery)

    $500 - Batman 232 - CGC 8.5 (pressed by Joey)

$480 - Tales from the Crypt 27 - CGC 7.5 (pressed by Joey) a beautiful spine and held back by the tiny nibble at the lower right corner. I upgraded to a 9.0.

$300 - Weird Fantasy 8 - Superior copy CGC 8.5 (not pressed by me and no sign of pressing)

$220 - Shock Suspenstories 16 CGC 7.5 (recent purchase so I am less attached to it)

  2. It is a great idea and I will use it. Most other collectibles are traded on the basis of documentary evidence and not locked in plastic. Comics were once the same. Aside from foregoing the environmental hazard, sometimes I want a second opinion on my books and also want to keep it raw.

This would also fill a void at shows, e.g. where two people want to settle on a grade to facilitate an in person sale.

I have seen boardies sell books here and elsewhere, de-slabbed, with support of a CGC label. It worked just fine.

    I'm finally in the club!

This one has been on my radar for about a year and a half, but the perfect storm of price/condition/available funds hadn't hit until this month.  Thanks to fellow boardie, Mio, for the sale!

Now on to the next key...either Adv #210 or 247.

It is a looker for grade! Do enjoy.

But the problem remains, the grade can only be guaranteed the moment it is done.  Now I can see value in on site grading opinions at a show. Being able to pay a third party to come over to a booth and give a grade, especially when dealing with high value books, would actually be good.

Some people take books out of slabs when they get them, and just want an independent view as to the grade. I have books like this. The service can be useful in other cases, e.g. a buyer and seller cannot agree on a grade and submit just to determine that (to help fix a price) which I have also done.
