Whipped up this Crypt Keeper today.
Today?
Six hours well spent! And thanks! I think it turned out well (lousy picture doesn't really capture it - will repost tomorrow).

Whipped up this Crypt Keeper today.

I have been battling my struggle with light hair as I wind down my sabbatical, but here's one of my latest efforts. The photo didn't work well, but I'm lousy with a camera.
More of my stuff is in this gallery but note that I have been doing nudes, mostly, so it might not be work safe.

Done by me for a fellow boardie (finished yesterday):
It was a little intimidating to even try; but I think I came pretty close! Even though my natural style is nothing like FF's.

I totally knew this was a misgraded 7.0 when I had it. Congrats!

Just watched this eBay auction end... Item number #190700463313... I would have posted about it earlier but didn't want to annoy any bidders by drawing attention to it.
It was an 18-comic lot of early EC horror issues in what appears to be fine-plus condition. It includes the first Tales From the Crypt #20 (#1), and two issues of Crypt of Terror (#18 and #19). Also there was Vault of Horror #13 (#2), and Haunt of Fear #4, along with numerous other early issues of the above titles. Auction ended at $2,676.26, which is just shy of averaging $150 per comic. If they're as nice as they look, a $150-per-issue average is a pretty good deal. Though it was still quite a bit higher than I could or would have bid!
I put in what turned out to be a thrill bid. That was too much dough to risk for me. But you are right, some of those books looked to be in quite nice shape. Would love to know how this works out for the buyer.

Craig was the man! Love those covers...

Just had these arrived from CGC:
I had the grade right, just not the wonderful purple hue label
At least the 'P' suggests the CT can be scraped off.
-
well called and got my #'s, at least books should be in hand in a week or 2
over all i'm a bit disappointed as imo some/most of the books were stunning in hand
The new business model: give people crappy grades and cash-in when they pay for graders' notes

I can't believe I just wasted 4 minutes of my life reading that garbage... damn, now I am wasting time complaining about it.

Picked up this beautiful Hellraiser complete fifteen page story "To Mock Your Own Grinning" painted by Miran Kim:
Those are spectacular!
Seriously!
What a great score...
-
Wow - great copy! Don't tell the Mrs
I always wondered what the interior was like - anybody know if it's as grim?

Called for some grades today and really pleased with the results. I only asked about 3 out of the 60, but I like to be surprised when the box gets here. These are from another OO collection I found recently...
ASM 2: 8.5 white
ASM 10: 9.2 white
Daredevil 1: 8.0 white
How come the OO stashes I find are 50% Turok #1 and 50% '90s 'bad girl' comics (the tier-B ones)

that is amazing!
where did you come across that?

Not comic art, but not sure where else to put it... Watercolour of Bela Lugosi:

I won't have it in hand for a couple of weeks, but here be my latest watercolour addition:
Very cool, who's the artist?
Scott Rockwell - I have dozens of his paintings. Very gifted, he is!
-
Descriptions like "NM/MT ( light cover crease)" make me wonder what the actual grades on these books were.
Or even better "VF+ (small chip) cover laminated". Yowza.

So can anyone spare $6500+? The original artwork for the cover of Vampirella 17 by Enrich Torres is currently up for bidding at Robert Edwards Auctions:
I saw it in person a couple of months ago - it's huge (probably the largest published Enric cover I've seen) and quite nice. Though, without Vampi on the cover, I'm taking a pass on it.
I love that cover, w/ or w/o Vampi, it's one of my favourites. I too, am about $6,500 short, however.

This new series of Sotheby's videos on Roy Lichtenstein may make some of your heads explode:
Sotheby's Conversations on Roy Lichtenstein's "Sleeping Girl"
I enjoyed watching them.
Ugh. No kidding. I wanted to strangle those commentators.

Too cool... congrats!

Super clean ECs, dude! Very nice!

Yowza! That's a swanky rag - congrats!

I'm not trying to hog the thread with this, but here is a better picture of the CK from yesterday. Shows much better!
And thanks for all the praise - my painting has come a long way since the spring!
