Where in the world was the Quality Control at CGC???
Mgc015 replied to Wally's Comics's topic in Comics General
Congrats on getting the brand new really thin slab. It allows you to take the books out to read them. I’m a bit jealous. I got stuck with those thick plastic slabs that are completely sealed. 😃 -
“when your grandchildren's children sell your Modern collection, it will still have white pages.” Will it still be called the Modern Age?

Are grading reasons given?
Mgc015 replied to Talip75's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
You should post all your photos in the “Hey buddy, can you spare a grade” section and people will be able to review your photos and give you their opinion of what grade your book might get and why. You can learn a lot from them. You will also learn that grading is done by individuals and may vary slightly between the grade you want to get and the grade that your book deserves. -
Came back as a 9.6. Really happy with that. Getting it back next week. I had CCS press it. I’m guessing they must have done a good job with those creases.

Grade Is In: PGM Tales of the Teen Titans #44
Mgc015 replied to Mgc015's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
You guys have done this before. I didn't even see the slight tear at the lower staple. I thought I would get hit harder for the lower right corner on the back page. Used CCS for pressing. -
Keep these comics bagged or unbag them?

I have these 4 Spider-Man variants that when put together look pretty nice. (This photo isn’t of my books) My books are in poly bags that includes cassettes of the Ramones singing the Spider-Man theme. It seems that in most cases it is better to remove the books from the poly bags even if you aren’t slabbing so you can get a proper bag and board on them to protect them. But in this case the cassettes seem to really make these more special in the poly bags. I read somewhere that there was only a run of 1000 for each of these. What does everyone feel would be best to do with these? Unbag and store properly or leave in the bags with the cassettes? I know there isn’t one correct answer, thats why I’d like to hear some opinions. Thanks.

This book always has a poly bag crease and the graders know it and look for it specifically. If you didn't have it pressed out, they saw it and graded accordingly. Hard to see in the case but here was mine before I had it pressed out. If you didn't even open the bag before sending it in, you have no idea the quality of the book you sent them.

Not sure this would count as a secret. -

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Learned the difference between miswrap and spine roll. Lot of knowledge out there. Thanks for sharing.

Please give me your thoughts on this. I think lower right front cover bend is biggest problem along with spine roll. Is CCS able to fix the spine roll? Thanks for your help.

Is this the same book?

Basically, one of two things happened. My book was switched on purpose or switched on accident. Either way, I have realized I will not be getting my book back. It’s not like it has just gone missing and will turn up eventually. Someone else has it and that sucks. CGC has settled this with me. Seems like they know I was wronged. You have to have the photos to back it up. And I wouldn’t be surprised if they didnt review their own photos to prove this. Make sure to take photos! CGC Mike only told me he would make a general statement and I am free to say what I want. No NDA. No legal papers. Just a promise that they made to try to make up for what happened. Am I happy? Absolutely not. He said they will continue to investigate and try to find my book, but we all know that they won’t find it. So what else are my options? They made an offer that I thought would give me the best result from a very bad situation. So I guess I’m satisfied that they tried to make up for my loss. Other than giving me my book back, I felt this was best for me. I just hope they learn from it. There’s no way a book should be allowed to be switched on accident if they have proper protocols in place. Books need to stay separate from other books. And if someone took it, maybe they can try to find when it got switched in the process and who did it and have them arrested. Thanks to CGC MIke for emailing me personally and helping me out. -
And the back shows the top staple isn’t lined up with the bottom. How hard do I get hit for that? Or is that just a manufacturer’s defect?

I don’t think these are color breaking, even the bigger one. Any thoughts on if pressing will get these out? Any idea on a grade and if this would be good to send in to get signed?

I have not gotten any private messages or phone calls. The only communication that I’ve had is what you see from CGC Mike. Like I said before, it seems as if he is someone the people on these boards go to with a problem. That gives me hope. I think any proper investigation would require a few days so I am trying to be patient. It seems CGC in general could do better with their communication. I had expected a private call or email at this point. I am generally positive and don’t want to complain about this as part of an online discussion. This is my personal property that has gone missing and complaining about it on this thread won’t help me get my book back any sooner. But a call would have been nice. -

Haven’t heard anything, but its only Monday. CGC Mike said he would pass it on to someone. I’m hoping they are seriously looking into this and trying to make it right. I would hope to hear from someone either tomorrow or Wednesday just to let me know they are aware of the problem. Trying to be patient and let them do what they need to do. -

I have a Secret Wars 8 that I sent in for a custom label. It was separated from the other 4. And I don’t believe it was accidentally switched either. I think someone working there has sticky fingers and didn’t think this switch would be caught. Is there a number I can call to talk to someone or will CGC Mike have someone contact me? I saw in some other posts that he has been helpful to many people. But overall, these threads do not speak highly of CGC customer service. So frustrated about this. My book was so much nicer than the one returned which was a 9.6 so I’m pretty confident I had a 9.8 stolen from me.
