    KC #201 is an elusive one - I've always wanted to see what the new story was inside. I'm assuming it was inventory left over from Giant Size Kid Colt, which was running short new stories around that time.

    Maneely was a superb draftsman, technically superior to Kirby, but Jack had that "OOMPH" that took Marvel to new heights. I just can't see a Maneely Hulk comparing, for example. Joe's Sub-Mariner covers from the '50s are good examples. Technically nice to look at, but no Avengers #4 cover!

    I tend to use Astonish #56 as my starting point...Kirby's first Atlas work. But then there's his Yellow Claw stuff in the same period, so maybe not.

    Great stuff, all - you really can't go wrong with these books! Grabbed a few new ones myself at the Long Beach Comic Expo this weekend...I'll post 'em up later tonight or tomorrow.

    Very "Deliverance." After flipping thru, I saw it was continued next issue, which surprised me, since I thought only #10-15 had new stories. Luckily, I picked up a #16 at the same show and sure enough, it was another new story. And strangely enough, it has a very "Combat Kelley" type ending, which Freidrich also wrote. He must not have liked leaving loose ends for others.

    Very cool - I haven't been to one of Bruce's shows in years, maybe it's time to go again. They're really stepped it up in terms of recruiting new dealers and improving the show. There was even a line to get in stretching down the street yesterday...first time I've seen that happen at this show in quite a while. Most Improved Award for 2012!

    Interesting, I've found the same challenges. I finally broke down and bought a RK #17 with a name in pen across the cover because it was so tough to find a decent copy. TGK 60-63 are insanely tough, low or high grade. I'll have to post some shots tonight!
