  1. This may be one of those rare Kirby/Roz self-inked covers. The lack of background detail and the clothing folds are usually dead giveaways.
  2. This may be something to ask Shooter about on his blog...!
  3. Were they printed at the same time of the original runs with just a black plate change for the logos? Again, don't know the answer, just curious. And we aren't old!
  4. I was there (i.e. I'm old) and those suckers were reprints. They hit discount stores by the truckload nearly a year past the original printings. Why do you think they're not considered reprints? Just curious.
  5. Is there a thread with all these eBay user IDs gathered in one tidy place?
  6. Great book, super-speedy shipping with excellent packaging! Good on ya, Sharon!
  7. I never realized this was Kane before. I guess if I would have looked closer I would have noticed Kane anatomy with the Vision and Scarlett Witch. But in the original cover, stuff like Thor's left hand is far more Romita to me. What stories are in that book? I've never seen it before. Even stranger is when you compare the two, they were inked by two different inkers - the annual looks like Esposito and the Avengers #122 was by Romita. Lots of obvious differences like Thor's hands, Thor's face, etc. Did Esposito ink it first, then Romita got a hold of it before publication? Strange. Or was it vice versa and someone lightbox it from the #122 art for the Annual?
  8. Kane/Romita or Kane/Janson? Tough call which I prefer...
  9. And I think I have a #43 - I'll check & scan tonight.
  10. That's such a great cover. In the Marvel Visionaries: Gil Kane TPB, Kane says that's his favorite cover. Can't disagree. http://www.comicvine.com/marvel-visionaries-gil-kane-marvel-visionaries-gil-kane/37-278803/
  11. I wholeheartedly approve of a Gil "Sugar" Kane thread!
  12. WWT #7 is an essential book for any Gerber/Defenders fan! (thumbs u
  13. All of the Headmen originally appeared in pre-hero books - all three stories were reprinted in Weird Wonder Tales #7 where Gerber saw them then decided to make them Defenders villains. Love the Headmen saga!
  14. Love that #14 is so obviously heavily inked by Tom Palmer, but only Lieber signed it - just like his brother, that Larry!
  15. On another note, I went on the Marvel Wikia to double check my issue numbers above and notice the (badly cropped) scan of #55 they have on the site is the copy I just bought a few months ago! http://marvel.wikia.com/Journey_into_Mystery_Vol_1_55 My copy: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Board=16&Number=5331299&Searchpage=4&Main=30407&Words=El+Toro+Rojo&topic=0&Search=true#Post5331299 Meaningless, but kind of a shock to see! That slut of a book gets around!
