  1. Hi Jon, Back when I was picking up collections more, I tried the thrift store route. I don't think any of the comics hit the floor and the workers took them. Places like Goodwill will put up items on their website for sale vs ever hitting the sales floor. That is why I don't do thrift stores. But each area is different. I try and do the free on Craiglist but rarely do that for comics as you mostly get resalers. But I do it for coats, clothing and things of need often.
  2. I have been reorganizing my stuff now since January. It started with a rebag and boarding project simply because I wanted to claim back my bedroom closet back. I figured moving the boxes, I might as well rebag some of them. 400 comics done later and reaudited my spreadsheet, I got rid of around 2 short boxes. I want to get rid of one more short box but I am in no hurry. I am quite satisfied with how my collection is shaping up. Basically, while I do love my moderns, they are the ones I have changed over to trade format. It takes some effort to get rid of them but it is worth it. I have so many TPB/HC that I read one a week, I still would be reading about 7 years from now.
  3. Some of it was just acquired through purchasing other lots. What I like has very little appeal to others. I like DC animated series. No one else really collects that outside of those few keys and desirable covers. I got rid of a small Detective modern run too. Personally, I love the covers to that run and the writing. It was Greg Rucka part of the Tec run that was never collected. I paid maybe 10-15 dollars for it so it isn't a big loss. The tec and animated comics that I sold, I will purchase them in TPB format. That was the bulk of the box. The rest was really tag along stuff and horror dollar fodder that i like to read during Halloween. Unfortunately, I get comics because I enjoy reading them. That is not how collecting these days are designed.
  4. I just sold one short box of junk. Finally after being postponed for a week, the guy followed through last night. Yup, now to put together another box of junk.
  5. I used to trade with MCS a lot when I could use Media Mail. Now even Regional cost me around $14. It is hard to get enough comics together to warrant that shipping cost. Plus the boxes are a bit smaller too. If you have a run of common stuff, forget about trading. They usually have tons too.
  6. Mycomicshop sent me the wrong sized bags and I am not paying for return shipping. I never, ever order Current. I am sooooo f*&(*&( mad right now because no local shops near me carry Polyethylene bags so I am forced to order them online. $15.00 Shipped in the US. Thanks.
  7. The value that I am selling is too small. That is why I am pushing it on CL and ebay. It was only one short with some run off. Basically all moderns that I seed with some BA just to move it along easier.
  8. I live just outside of NYC. I get all the clowns that don't drive or want me to deliver to Brooklyn. I now put in the top of my listing that I don't deliver or mail. As for a garage sale, I live in an apartment complex. Aside from not wanting my neighbors to know I collect, there is no where to hold a garage sale. I did rent a table several years back. I basically had to give the comics away at the end of the day. Everything else sold though that day which was great.
  9. Craigslist is a terrible pain unless you are giving something way for free. Then they all come out of the woodwork. I really don't want to mail this junk. Too much work for very little money but I hate to throw it out. None of the hospitals will take it. I could dump it in the Library donation bins but then it just may get thrown out. I am trying not to add to the landfill. I tried selling stuff here and while some went most of it didn't. Any suggestions? I don't facebook and I tried Letgo app a few years ago without any luck. Thanks.
  10. For me the only perfect shop I ever visited was Zapp Comics in NJ. I stumbled across the shop, when I was at a comic / toy show in NJ and asked around it there was any comic shops in the area. They sent me to Zapp. Even though I live in NY, I had gone several times during my collecting phase. What made that shop so great? They had Silver, Bronze and up. A truly nice selection of books that you can just browse through without asking to see any boxes from behind a counter. They had very decent prices on all their stuff too. But my favorite shop will always be Alternate Realities. While it wasn't the greatest store design wise, they had the best employees and there was always a friendly conversation waiting to spring up. The owner kept TPBs in stock so even if you were looking for something out of print, he would have it and sell it for retail price. I would spend hours in that shop. The two "Local" comic shops near me just cannot compete customer service wise at all. I have told the story about the 1 book he order twice for me and sold it twice out from under me. Twice I trekked to the store without so much as a call from the one clerk that claims he is all about customer service. Shame because that store does alot of in-house signing, promos and I even traded some items with them. It was a fun store but they will never see my business again.
  11. Here's what is left. I am going put the books into 2 Lots and hopefully that gains some interest. All offers are welcomed too. Soft close at the end of day. 13. DC Gotham City Girls Makeup Train Case $18.00 - Never used.
  14. Funko Wonder Woman Pop #86 - $5.00 has sticker reside on bottom of the box. Otherwise, I never displayed her.
  15. Betty and Veronica Boxed Note Cards $5.00 - Only has 4 cards and a bunch of disappointing plain white envelopes. I mainly got it for the box graphics. It is in decent shape see pics.
  16. Batman Automobilia TV Show edition $25.00 - I purchased this and put it in the closet. Still in the original plastic as purchased. Click on the image for full size as the thumbnails appear blurry but the pics aren't
  17. My Little Pony Treasury $5.00 - I stored this standing up and the right lower corner is rolled. I think it will right itself over time.
  18. I have a bunch of other comic magazines that I will list in a day or so. Please note that all pictures are just Thumbnails. Click on the picture to see it full size. I will break up the Epic lot but would rather sell them together first.
  19. Vintage Poster Collection Cards - $5.00. The set is incomplete (missing card 12 and 45) If I remember correctly is a reprint set. There are a handful of chase cards too see first picture. One has a weak corner. These are larger than normal trading cards.
  20. Super Power VHS tapes $10.00 - The covers are bright and in excellent condition with the exception of the Batman which shows corner wear.
  21. It is strange. I never had to claim funds before. It all worked out but now I am getting nervous using Paypal as my only source of taking money in online.
  22. I don't even take in that much money through Paypal. Maybe a few hundred dollars a year. If that. I don't sell that much these days. I am just taking inventory of all my stuff and really want to downsize. I am hoping to move in the next 5 years.
  23. I just got money into my Paypal account and everything is great. Except I am printing out the shipping labels and the money isn't being taken from my Paypal Balance. Nope, I have to accept the transfer. OK. I go to accept the transfer and the site is asking for my SS number. NOPE, NO WAY. I will forgo the money. I don't have my Bank account linked to my Paypal any more and I want to keep it that way. Has anyone run into this issue? I just sold on Ebay two months ago and had no issues with taking money into Paypal. I will be calling them today but honestly, this ties my hands on selling. I thought I had until May for new stupid Paypal rules but I guess not. Is anyone using anything else to sell these days? Thanks Edit: OK I am more rational now. They are only asking for the last four digits. But still, arrrggghhh!
