  1. So is everybody now more fans of the book or the money the book brings?
  2. I completely agree. I've been reading the comic for almost five years now. I started collecting the "back issues" after I was reading it for about two years, and I almost made a complete run. I'm only missing 1 - 4, but I stopped just before prices went up excessively. It sucks that I don't have them - but I'm not paying more than my perception of their value for them. I started buying original art from the series because I didn't want to fork over the money for the first four issue. Unfortunately the "saving money" part didn't really pan out on that. I think when prices on raw issue 1's comes down around $500 I'll buy one. To replace the books I sold, I just got the weeklies. Help I've been paying cover for them too.
  3. Did you read comics before, or did you start after the show (as in comics as a whole, not just the walking dead).
  4. Most newbs who want to read it will go for the trades. I really don't see everyday fans spending whatever the going rate is for a #1 who weren't already collecting the series prior. Especially those that will be turned off by the differences in storylines. All they have known is the show canon, not the comic canon. Say what you want about this theory, I really don't see how the rising prices of the books are not going to be prohibitive to the average fan, tv or comic. I love the walking dead, read it from the start, but I will never own another #1 because once it went for more than $500, I'm out. I especially don't have over $2k for a 9.8. It's ok, yes I did have multiples at one time but they helped with putting out my first comic. But these insane prices are mostly due to speculators and short term investors due to small print runs. Just my thoughts. Take for what it is.
  5. Most of the slabs were of 19, there were a few 1's and 27. And whoever said that wd was NOT showcased were full of mess. Lowest CGC wd were 9.4 that I saw, PLENTY of raws on display, most from 7 or 8 and up, dis see a raw 4 and a few 7, 8 & 9's.
  6. So back in 2010 at Baltimore comic con, you couldn't find any walking dead about (I'm talking about us commoners, not the special ones who have an "in" with dealers), this year the dead were everywhere, some of the dealers were pricing them well and others had hit the pipe prior to the con. The only raw #1 I saw was listed at $850, didn't look at the book since I didn't have $850 for it and well it serves no purpose for me to spend money like that on a book that cant further my own writing career. But just like 2010, CHEW was nonexistent. I didn't see any of the early issues anywhere on the floor.
  7. serbia argentina chile german (individual issues) that is all i can think of off the top of my head the trades are...well...good luck with those... czech, south korea, spanish, french and on and on...
  8. Is she a Kar-ian? La Dash Ah Spelled la-ah.
  9. So let me get this straight... There is a kid named jdashson? The dash isn't silent, I work with someone who has a dash in her name and it is PART of her spoken name. Hahaha. What mess is this? Seriously...
  10. Image is just giving te retailers what thy want. At least If you want the later printings, you get something different instead of just a notation in the indica and the same cover
  11. That may be true for JL, but WD 100 had over 300,000 copies. NO NEED for a second print, let alone a third. Little demand for that kind of supply. That was my thought too. Every shop I've gone into since #100 came out has tons of copies laying around, so the story is there if someone wants to read it. It is tough to argue that this is a case of unmet demand for copies to read. Image is just reprinting to fill the new reorders. Why retailers are ordering more when most have 20+ copies bound for the dollar bin still on shelves.... Waitaminute! The retailers are ordering the later prints to milk it just as much as image. I understand, I used to be one that needed every variant as well. I used to. Now I buy one copy and that is it, but there are plenty who will still buy every version released. Both of my lcs didn't get the 97-101 reprints (except those that ordered them). I don't blame them, they still have over 40 copies of 100 plus they still have a healthy inventory of 97-99.
  12. Wow the over saturation continues. Squeeze all you can from the sacred cow...
