  1. I think we all consider some defects as tolerable and others beyond the pale. I hate rusted staples and foxing, but can live with some edge tears and creasing, for example. My advice would be to decide what your deal breakers are and avoid them, even if the book is otherwise really desirable.
  2. Looking at this again: If that has been prepared as carefully as I would hope legal documents are prepared, it reads as if the 2021 number (253) is 'approximate', while the others for later years are exact. Or is it an error, and they meant 'approximately 253, 345 and 329 submissions in 2021, 2022 and 2023 respectively'?
  3. The staining on the Lois Lane also extends onto many (all?) of the pages.
  4. That white 'scratch' is a reasonably common printer's glitch on Hulk 181. I think that gets a pass from CGC, at least in grades under 9.8
  5. I think 2.0 is more likely than anything else, though 1.8 seems possible. And that looks like a production cut to me rather than a trim job. You have Action 41 in the thread title
  6. I didn't. I got But based on past performance, I'd say that's uncorrelated with my result
  7. Admittedly I have a scale modellers toolbox, so you may not have one, but a fine razor saw does the job very neatly. In fact... never mind, it will get the slab open. Do you know any model builders?
  8. No problem Mike. I would still have got +1 on that one (instead of +2).
  9. Did the graders miss the writing on the cover of the Comet? Edit: never mind, I just noticed the yellow label! I spent a while looking that book up to check that it was not meant to be there. Not thrilled by that one, TBH
  10. I was thinking it tops out at 8.0 even with a press. A bit too much colour breaking stuff going on.
  11. Australian comic book producers of the 1940s and 50s on line one for you.
  12. There were a few comics reprinted in Australia with the Dell logo. Here's one of them. B&W interiors, with Matt Baker art in this one.
