  1. The price is too high, but I have no problem with reproduction comics - just another form of reprint. I own a few and quite enjoy them.
  2. They look so fresh. I think we sometimes forget that even the beautifully preserved Church and Allentown copies have 70-80 years of ageing to take a little of the shine off.
  3. That's very cool. An early attempt at cross promotion!
  4. You get a lot of cool and interesting books Mr. Five.
  5. Is this the same girl? She needs to keep better company.
  6. There are many of your comic books I would like to have myself. Your dinners are all yours though!
  7. Crime SuspenStories to Shock SuspenStories
  8. My first Ziff-Davis painted sci-fi cover. Interesting filler item here - lots of silliness, but the last panel shows something interesting. It was thought in the 1950s that observations of Mars had shown seasonal variations in vegetation. On closer inspection it turned out that seasonal wind shifts carried different coloured sand around and there is no vegetation to be seen. An object lesson in the perils of confirmation bias. </prof AJD>
  9. There was a 1952 Australian reprint with the 'correct' orange cover. I'm not sure if the 1971 edition was taken from that or the US reprint, though that was 1965 and had a blue cover (Gold Key - guessing that's the one you mean).
  10. Pure nostalgia made me put down $10 for this one. I was 8 when this reprint appeared in Australia and it was one of the most loved comics in my collection. I love rebuying these issues when I find them in highish grade and not too expensive. These books were 32 pages including the FC. So this 32 page story had a page cut - the one with the goofy guy with wings strapped on. I saw that for the first time when I bought the Barks library in the late 80s. I also recall being surprised at the colour of the original Dell edition!

Especially in the last 10-15 of the run, though there are plenty of nice ones earlier too. This one is a corker.
