  1. +1 That's exactly what I expect will happen. The newly formed JLA will most likely be going up against Supes & the parademon's in part 1. Then after Supes memories are restored with the aid of his love for Lois, he will band together with the JLA to take on Darkseid.
  2. He makes it sound like the change to the character's origin was to appease the Chinese box office. Ouch! This is total BS. If anything the real politics would be about acknowledging Tibet as the location itself. Do they think it will be any less insulting to the Chinese by having a British woman playing the role of a Tibetan Monk? The Chinese don't want to acknowledge Tibet as an autonomous region. As far as they're concerned, it's always been part of China. This whole stereotype excuse is actually a moot point. It's like saying Chinese people won't watch Asian martial arts movies because it's too stereotypical. All they had to do was change the locations name from Tibet to Nepal. Changing the characters race was not necessary. It looks like Strange is traveling to Nepal in the trailer anyways, cause they do show a Kathmandu temple at one point. So where does the issue of race come in? This is just a poor excuse to justify their decision, rather than the actual reason behind it. Besides, I think the Ancient One being Asian would have actually increased ticket sales in China.
  3. You may be comparing things that cannot be compared. Batman Begins: - Release Date: 15 June 2005 (USA) By Day 33 (July 17th), a few countries had recently had their first release of Batman Begins. And though they are little countries, they contributed to $4.24 MM to the worldwide total. Czech Republic: 14 July 2005 ($221,135) Hungary: 14 July 2005 ($266,303) Lebanon: 14 July 2005 ($98,849) Slovakia: 14 July 2005 ($53,004) Finland: 15 July 2005 ($1,276,287) Norway: 15 July 2005 ($2,272,108) TOTAL BOX OFFICE CONTRIBUTION: $4.24 MM Remember, Batman v Superman frontloaded its release schedule. And that is just Batman Begins I quickly checked and determined you cannot compare the two. Umm...the totals I posted above are tracking _domestic_ totals only; international is irrelevant to all of the numbers I posted above. You're right, they can't be directly compared because we haven't adjusted everything for inflation to 2016 dollars, which would make BvS's numbers look even worse. On the 5th Tuesday of release, it was also outperformed by Spider-Man (2002), to say nothing of Deadpool's outdoing it by 100%. Even worse? The 2005 Fantastic Four movie almost did as well as BvS pre-inflation ($572,194 domestic daily take), and that was 11 years ago, at 20% fewer theaters. And yet, despite all this, it is still going to finish in the top 10 superhero movies domestically. I'm sure Warner Bros. is crying all the way to the bank. I have no doubt this is how this movie was pitched to investors. "Ladies and gentlemen of the billionaires club. Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises each did $1B worldwide. For this movie, we are going to unleash a marketing campaign like the world has never seen. We are going to make the movie using the two biggest comic icons ever, BATMAN v SUPERMAN. Not only that, we're going to make Oscar winner BEN AFFLECK our Batman, he is a superstar that everyone knows. And to an already all star support cast, we will add Jeremy Irons AND Jesse Eisenberg. Not only that, for the first time ever on the big screen, we are going to portray WONDER WOMAN. AND this movie will be the cornerstone of our the Justice League world we are building. What are our expected revenues? Well funny you should ask. Since both DK and DKR made noticeably more than $1B+, and the world market is much more developed now than it has been in the past, and Marvel has been hitting over $1B with their team-up movies, we expect to make a respectable $800M, and we will consider anything over 25% on Rotten Tomatoes a success." That was Zack Snyder's pitch verbatim. So all the investors must be super happy they invested in this movie vs Deadpool or Captain America or Zootopia. The investors were uber rich to begin with, and will be regardless of how these movies do. But in movies and a million other industries, its not always about turning profits, a lot of times its JUST as important if not MORE important to meet expectations. So to suggest that the bosses or investors are 'happy' about the outcome seems either disingenuous or naïve. That was just too funny.
  4. I can see it being Stallone as Starfox & Russell as Warlock.
  5. I think it would be cool if they used the show to introduce more heroes & villains into the MCU. There have been a few episodes like the Lorelei/Sif crossover, plus the Mister Hyde & Absorbing Man episodes, but I'd like to see more of that. If they want the show to be part of the MCU continuity, they really need to bring more to the table. Don't get me wrong, I like the show, I just feel like they could/should be doing much more with it than they have been. The Inhuman theme is an interesting way to go, but they haven't introduced any significant character aside from Daisy/Quake. The Inhumans movie might not come out for another 5+ years, so why don't they just start introducing a few characters like Medusa & Gorgon to really get the ball rolling.
  6. This show is no Smallville, that's for sure. I still watch but am a little underwhelmed most of the time. I do really like that they added the Martian Manhunter to the roster though. The episode where she was affected by red kryptonite is my favorite & was more reminiscent of what I loved about Smallville.
  7. Marvel has introduced enough heroes into the mix already. I would like to see more villains.
  8. I sold my raw 7.0 for $300 yesterday before I read the news. Still got my CGC 8.5 & 9.2 though. Feels like Marvel is leaning towards the Masters of Evil. I think we can probably expect to see the Enchantress in Ragnarok then.
  9. I agree. I think it's going to be Nightmare though. We'll probably see Dormammu in the next movie, after Mordo turns to the "left hand path". Apparently Mordo starts as a good guy in this film. I'll be happy with the basics in this film. It doesn't generally work well when they try to throw too many villains into the mix so quickly.
  10. You do know that this was an April Fool's joke, right? :: There was an article on another site making it sound real, I guess this guy did a video on it -- I thought it was real at first too, but of course it was just a cruel joke! That was pretty cruel. I was so excited about what the video said that I didn't even bother to check the comments.
  11. Will Tom Welling Reprise Superman On Supergirl? We've talked about it a few times here over the past few months. But no news has come out other than than interview with Tom Welling. Might as well reprise Erica Durance as Lois Lane. +1 I doubt they would bring Lois back also, but I would love to see that happen.
  12. Has anyone else heard that Tom Welling is coming back to play Superman in a 2 episode Supergirl/Flash crossover next season? I'm not sure if it's true but I'd like to see it happen.
  13. That's a good point but you also have to consider that Batman & Superman aren't new to the big screen either. Both characters have had many films to build a fan base outside of the comic world. Maybe the films were rebooted but that shouldn't effect the fan base. When Spider-Man was reboot, all the fans of the original series were waiting for the new films, so there was nothing to really build up to in that sense.
  14. I enjoyed both seasons but the 2nd was much better. Can't wait to see what they bring to the show next year. Defenders is announced for 2016 but I suspect it will be pushed to 2017 since Iron Fist is set for Nov 2016.
  15. I don't think much of Lex's role made much sense at all. The kryptonite part I get, but creating Doomsday because he feared Superman's powers makes no sense. If that's his plan to protect the world from Superman, it makes him look pretty stupid imo. I don't see how anyone can justify his reasoning for this. It's ridiculous. Superman destroyed a city fighting Zod & Lex's thinking is: I'll manipulate Zod's dna with Kryptonian tech to bring him back as Doomsday & possibly wipe out the continent to stop Superman. Then we'll be safe. I'll also contact the universes worst tyrant that enslaves entire worlds as back up, just in case. I think they should have spent more time building on Lex's hatred towards him. Batman & Superman teaming up to stop him after they realize he's pinned them against each other would have been enough. It would have been better had they left Doomsday & Wonder Woman out of the film. My .
  16. I disagree. I think critics expected to see something true to the characters in the film. I didn't mind seeing Batman take some lives but I understand why some people might. Superman on the other hand, is generally held to a higher standard imo. If Deadpool turned out to be a serious Superhero movie without the killing or comedy, people would be just as turned around. Viewers got what they expected from a Deadpool movie & the results were great, despite low production costs.
  17. Anyone else notice what seemed like Superman's army from Apokolips after being brainwashed by Darkseid in one of Bruce's dream sequences? Wouldn't surprise me if that's where the JLA movie is heading towards.
  18. I enjoyed the film as a whole but there were quite a few things that felt out of place. I didn't like the Luthor origin of Doomsday they used & thought his size was blown out of proportion. Those nuclear explosions he kept generating didn't sit well with me either. Lex seemed like more of a psychotic Joker than a brilliant Luthor. Then there's what my brother called the Iron Man Bat suit that seemed over the top as well. I think they should have spread the whole justice league introduction over several films like Marvel did. There was too much stuffed into one film without enough explanation. I actually had to ask myself WTF was going on a few times. Looked like they even killed Superman off in the end, which also felt confusing. Not sure where they plan on taking that. I walked away happy & a little disappointed all at the same time. Similar to how I felt about Star Wars, which I really enjoyed but was very upset about Han Solo's death.
