  1. Swami, you will someday learn but you are paying the premium pricing NOW. You are buying overgraded raw books at CGC like prices. You would be much better served by purchasing CGC graded books. As it stands, you need a movie to just break even.
  2. I'm not completely understanding the details here. Who sent the book back to CGC ? Did CGC do the resto removal ? If CGC did not receive this book in the slab, there is no liability on their part. This has happened before, where a blue label has come back trimmed Purple. Harshen actually came on here to say they only accept responsibility if they get the book in the slab = no one else has touched it. CGC has a lot more resto expertise in house these days with both Matt and Chris Friessen. This is unfortunate but not shocking.
  3. The #52, a personal favorite, looks a little rougher than the 49's. More staining on the BC and a large corner crease, bottom right on the FC. I would say it is, grade wise, somewhere between the #48 and #49's. How is the page quality on all these books ? Sometimes, when stored in a basement, the pages stay nicer as they like the humidity. Unfortunately, the staples do not like the humidity.
  4. Yes, it looks like they all got hit in the same area. These #49's should grade much higher than the #48.
  5. Yes and Yes. They added the PQ soon thereafter. It's funny now but there was a learning curve for collectors to go a strictly numeric system.
  6. I have no idea what you are refering to here ? ' they take up to a week to check and make sure it's a legit certified comic.'
  7. Here's something different. Notice anything missing from the very early CGC label, Graded 12/17/1999 ?
  8. Yes, that bottom staple looks completely detached, going into the wraps. I think this flaw will actually knock it down to 4.5 range OR a Qualified 6.0 .
  9. From the looks of that stain in the upper right, I wonder if your guy used a solvent to peel away the paper off of the code on the FC ? I can now see rusty staples with bleed, migration. Otherwise, the Back Cover is pretty clean. This is very difficult to grade. I would certainly not grade it higher than 3.0 .
  10. I don't know but I do see it a lot on ASM 41, to varying degrees.
  11. Did you ever notice ASM 41 often has a 'dirt rub' on the '2' of the12 cent price ?
  12. This is defintely a pull or peel of some sort. It does not have the appearance of tape as it's too jagged. It also does not look vintage, the exposed paper looks fresh, white. I've seen this look before. Any chance you tried to press this book or perhaps the previous owner pressed it ? By looking at the spine it looks flat, almost crushed. If there was any kind of surface residue, a press may have grabbed onto it and pulled off the paper. Sorry but this book looks bad. The tape pull is in your face.
  13. Since you chose to not answer me, I will better phrase my question. What is GRR ? I have no idea what you are talking about but I'm a Silver Age guy, don't hang around here too much.
  14. This is true. I have been disappointed with some Heritage books in hand. Someone on the Boards recommended looking closely at the color/brightness of the label to judge the accuracy of the pic. It does help but it's not a sure thing. As a side note, though I do not seek out the CVA stickered books, every one I have received looked great in hand, always pleased.
  15. Sorry for my ignorance but I thought GRR stands for Golden Record Reprint. I have no idea what you are talking about ?
  16. I'm curious as to how this happened. I'm not sure but is this an example of the early version of the new slab design, without a true inner well ? I don't see the corner slots that are usually present in the inner well. It looks like the book is pressed hard against the right edge. IN any case, contact CGC and get this reholdered, hopefully retaining the grade. OR, if you don't feel like dealing with all of this, get your money back, return it now.
  17. I'm in Illinois and I got my notice from Clink last year. First Heritage, then CLink, and lastly ComicConnect for Illinois. I think E-Bay also but I never buy any comics from them. Now, here is the big question. Are dealers with Website orders going to start to collect ?
  18. I had something similar happen to me on a 7.5, small piece of the corner had come off . I contacted CGC, sent it back in. They decided the corner chip was still allowable in that grade. So, based on my experience, I think it will retain a 7.0 but you need to contact CGC.
  19. And they would submit it In Person, challenging them face to face.
  20. But I bagged and boarded this right off the newstand. Is CGC ripping me off here ? This should be Gem Mint.
  21. I've always bought 377 whenever I see it but I usually don't see it in the dollar box.
  22. At first, CGC acknowledged MH2 as a pedigree but then changed their stance, not sure why. This is an olde label. If it even got reholdered the ped would be dropped.
  23. Bill, I think your E-Bay listing is very confusing. The title says Hulk 182 but the picture shows 180. After reading the details, you are selling both in one listing. IMO, not a good approach.
  24. I think you are correct. 9.9's usually need all 4 corners to be razor sharp. However, in the right hands, the corner may be 'fixed'.
