  1. The only thing I can think of is the size is too big. I usually use 100 DPI when scanning for display on the Boards.
  2. This may be a situation where he didn't come back because the results were not stellar.
  3. Normally, I like stamps but Foreign stamps do not appeal to me. It's all about recreating one's youth and a Foreign stamp does NOT remind me of my childhood.
  4. It should accept JPG, I think you must be doing something wrong. Are you attaching the JPG here............... Drag files here to attach, or choose files... Accepted file types gif, jpeg, jpe, jpg, png · Max file size 511MB
  5. I'm not sure what your question is ? If you are asking are they worth submitting, the answer is NO.
  6. Okay, we are almost @ Page 108 anyway, here is my copy, a Pedigree Ohio copy in 7.0 . I think, for whatever reason, CGC is strict on this issue. I think my 7.0 looks better than the grade also.
  7. Thanks. I have also asked for the wedge in all my submissions but I guess it is at the discretion of the person doing the encapsulation.
  8. Yes, there are different reasons why CGC will choose to add the wedge but I stand by my statement, it is a good thing. I much prefer to have my comics have a wedge. It definitely protects the comic from movement and SCS. In the event the comic sustains damage with the wedge in place it usually means the slab was subjected to extreme trauma. In that case, you are correct, the wedge may hold the cover in place while the insides shift. But it is NOT the fault of the wedge.
  9. I would definitely prefer the 8.5 over the 9.2. The 9.2 has that soft upper left corner while the 8.5 has 4 sharp corners. I think the 8.5 has some slight top edge bends and the top staple has two tiny tears/stress. The 8.5 is centered better and seems to be fresher looking with outstanding cover colors. Buy the book, not the grade.
  10. Jeff, indeed your passion about comics and your website is obvious, and that's a very good thing to have ! If anything, I think our discussion has brought a little more attention to your website, getting some Boardies to give it another look, including myself. Looking back at some old threads, I think the 'knock' against the site was that you only had E-Bay data. It appears this has changed and you now have a lot more, including Heritage and CLink ? Please correct me if I am wrong. If you have CLink data, I predict your site will be be the new King. I'm going to take you up on your offer above and take a better look at your site and report back.
  11. I believe we are both correct. When I made the comment about auctions, I was thinking about the bigger auction houses or bigger E-Bay auctions. They get results. An individual E-Bay seller, with not much traffic, probably does not get the proper results, as evidenced by your experience.
  12. Sounds risky to me. 'If done properly' is not the type of answer I would want. And if it's not done properly ?
  13. Good job. The previous generation of slabs was so much easier to work with for stuff like this. The new slabs look great but I don't like them. BTW, I do NOT think you can get a 9.0 on this book, too many hard spine creases. I would also not want to risk losing your White page designation. Now that the piece of plastic has been removed, I would leave it alone.
  14. All things considered, I would be happy with this result. The absence of trimming is benficial to the valuation. I'm a PQ junkie and the fact that the book got CR/OW would probably annoy me more than the Purple label.
  15. The trouble with trying to add 'notes' to your submission, like a hand written page, is the graders probably won't see them. As suggested, I would call CGC to find out if they can accomodate. Fair warning, I don't think CGC adds customized information to the label. But it's worth a shot. I would think that a book with the whole back cover missing would be graded 0.5. I can't believe Heritage graded it 2.5 ? Are you sure they didn't grade it a Qualified 2.5 ?
  16. Jeff, I apologize about the slight to your service. Though I remember trying it, I never followed through. In all honesty, I am not familiar with all it has to offer. Just being honest but I've never heard anyone endorse or recommend your service. The Boards seems to have embraced GPA as King, not much else seems to get recommended around here. I'll have to take another look. Sorry.
  17. It's funny you made your analogous comment about a Beatles album as that was me maybe 15 years ago. Big, Beatle collector, trying to recreate his youth. I finally focused on just comics. My comment wasn't directed at the financials at all, just concern for the book itself. I mean, how much 'abuse' can a book take. Spend your money, as much as you want, on an original copy that hasn't been tampered with. With another restoration, this book will simply be a re-creation.
  18. I believe you but what is the proper way of handling this situation ? Possibly, leaving it in the box for a while inside the house.
  19. Where do you live, how cold are we talking about ? This is an interesting topic as I have always been suspicious that extreme weather conditions can harm the slab.
  20. And if I may add, the wedge is a good thing to have. As mentioned, it helps prevent movement. I wish CGC used it on all books.
  21. So it is an oversight, error if you will. Unfortunately, it's the buyer that will lose out here. I find it hard to believe the original submitter did not realize it was an error.
  22. The seller's E-Bay rating is '2'. This must be a CGC QC error, I don't think there is any situation where a trimmed book gets a Blue Label.
  23. It's actually pretty exciting when you get the phone call that your book was bumped because of value. It means your book graded better than you thought. CGC is good about letting you slide up to a point but a bump can happen. BTW, it is possible to get a refund on the Walkthrough tier only. That is the tier where they charge you a percentage of the value. If you overgraded your book and they hammered it, it is possible to get a partial refund. I once got one on an AF15 that graded well but got a PLOD. I asked for a partial rebate and they obliged.
  24. I don't see a spine roll on your book, at least in the traditional sense. I hope we are not at a point in this hobby where we think a press fixes everything. First off, because of the signature, you will have to submit it to CGC in the slab, as is. They will know it was designated trimmed. The guy doing the pressing at CCS, Chris Friesen, is an expert in the field of restoration. You also have Matt Nelson probably finalizing a Walkthrough book like this. It would not simply slip by them. Do you really think they will change their mind after a press? If you feel this strongly that they made a mistake, I would submit it for an evaluation. Otherwise, I would sell this book and move on, it's obviously bothering you.
