  1. The OP already responded that it turns out the book was unrestored, hence the scraping of the cover. I think this book has seen enough. To Restore, UNrestore, and Restore again is just crazy.
  2. Use oversized Bags and Boards to prevent damage while taking it in and out.
  3. You also didn't say You were taking them .
  4. The only way to make sure you are getting FMV is to put the book in auction. Otherwise, you are just guessing at a price.
  5. I thought that if the hole 'cut out' some panels, especially words in the panels, it may be regarded as Incomplete.
  6. Sorry, brand new or not, it's obvious from the pics that the bags are wrinkled. I stand by my statement, put nice books like this in mylar.
  7. Nice books but get them out of those wrinkly bags. Those wrinkles can permeate onto the books. Use mylar on nice keys like this.
  8. Yes, I would feel much safer. They will handle the shipping and money collection.
  9. Regarding cleaning, I doubt it, as the rust bleeds through the BC onto the pages. Just get your money back.
  10. Heck, they advocate it. I think CCS is the bigger moneymaker. According to all the DIYers, pressing is so easy even a 5 year old can do it (actual quote here). So CCS can probably get the janitor to help out on a busy day. Not so with the grading.
  11. Most of the auction houses are doing it also. Yes, it has 'stalled' my buying. It sucks because it's not a level playing field with some states not affected.
  12. Keep in mind, a really good, professional press will not look like it has been pressed. However, since most are of the amateur variety I look at the spine. A spine should be plump, not flat. It is not in the grder's notes unlesss the press caused defects, like rippling.
  13. Another suggestion, use a regular comic book shortbox and store them sideways, spine on the bottom.
  14. I use a box that was intended to hold vinyl record albums. Works well and you can also use it for regular slabs and other things. If you have a resale shop for vinyl anywhere in your area maybe you can pick up a box and try it.
  15. However, when discussing CGC grading, the severity of the flaw needs to be recognized. While CGC is lenient on some flaws, anything in excess will bring out the hammer. This example is extreme and I feel it would be downgraded accordingly. I would not bother to slab it. It would also be a difficult sell. It's just not worth investing any more money into it. Sell it, as is, as a reader copy and move on.
  16. This is good advice and seems, at least to me, like common sense. I have a number of different Safety deposit boxes, each at a different Bank to minimize risk. I don't think it's a hassle at all. I think it's fun to go 'visit Peter Parker', swap around a few books, etc. Each box can hold about 50 comics, vertically, and the cost is in the 125 - 150.00 area annually. That's really not expensive, is it ?
  17. Looks like that area is dirty, not necessarily a color loss. I'm not sure but I suspect it will get a single bump down.
  18. I don't know the prices charged to Brulato. All I know is that Hauser had planned on keeping X-Men 1 - 10 but Brulato kept trying and Hauser finally relented. Sadly, afterward Hauser felt terrible. He said he made Tom a millionare and he never even bought John dinner. This was all in the very late 90's with Tom submitting the books to CGC early on. It quickly went from a valuation based on Overstreet Guide to 9.8 CGC multiples in maybe a year's timeframe. John is a nice guy and an honest dealer. I honestly feel bad for him.
  19. 'Is it wrong for me to want?' Yes, but who cares. 'I think Bob is going to get in trouble hehe...' You are probably right. Bob seems to be getting into a lot of trouble lately. Boardies are humping away at the Report Post on Bomber-Bob. I'll never be a member of the Insider Club.
  20. Effects of pressing with the book in the slab..............
  21. Do we really have to get into this discussion again ? I think the OP is baiting here. Kudos threads for pressing services are frowned upon by our host. Can't we just respect that . Personally, I think Guido's has the BEST pressing services. Fast turnaround too !
  22. I don't see any obvious pressable defects. I would also be concerned that the ink on the stamp would smear even more than it is already. It's possible, this already was pressed. I do think this book is worth slabbing .
