  1. Bill, first off he didn't ask about the grade and secondly, without seeing the front cover, it is impossible to say. Does the stain permeate to the front cover ? Does it go through te pages ? These things matter. I know it seems like I am picking on you but you continue to ask the same type of question. You want a specific answer to a broad stroked question where 'it depends'. There are no rules for how much a stain will affect the grade. It depends on the condition of the rest of the book and the size, depth, and severity of the stain. A cofee stain is worse than a water stain. CGC hammers stains. I would not be surprised to see a 9.0 book grade a 6.0 with a stain like this. It is a very bad flaw.
  2. I'm not sure about that. I thought the Conserved label is for things like a tear seal or rust removal on the staple. Things that will prevent a condition from getting worse. The stain will not get worse over time.
  3. I'm not sure I like the towel there for support. You need something solid. Put some TPB books or something else in there. You can tape the flaps, not sure what you need to 'research'. Align your books better by tilting the box on it's side. Your books are staggered. If you have a better book, double board it. Yes, lying it flat in a drawer is fine but it doesn't seem feasible as a permenant solution.
  4. I second this proposal. No new rules need to be introduced. Just common sense applied to a threadkrapping definition. If a seller chooses to open up the GPA discussion, then the community can respond. Keep it confined to GPA discussion. You can't say you're CR/OW book looks like burnt toast but you can say the last sale of a CR/OW book was X.
  5. Partly to blame is the new slab design. Scanning is difficult so you have to take a pic.
  6. That's why I came here to vent, respecting the threadkrap. AND I did not ask or even hint at a new rule. I came here to say 'I hate it when' . IMO, the seller was not comparing apples to apples. He had a CR/OW book. He should be comparing it to other CR/OW books, not to averages. He said it doesn't matter unless the pages are Brittle. I respectfully disagree.
  7. This. The data can be interpreted in many ways and only using selective data to benefit your sale is, IMO, not appropriate.
  8. One of my favorite books. The book has a LOT of smaller flaws. The chip isn't that big and probably doesn't even hurt the grade at this level too much. I am in the 5.5 range . I agree that I cannot call it a 6.0 .
  9. It seems intuitively obvious to me that placing a board inside the cover and applying a press can't possibly work. It may get rid of an edge crease or whatever he was trying to fix but it would incur a new crease or bend along the edge of the board. That's just crazy.
  10. Yes, I even have them categorized in my collection................. http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryRoom.asp?GSub=3183
  11. That's a really cool book. Putting a valuation on a book like this is very difficult and you probably are best served by putting it up for auction. Let us know if you decide to have an auction as I would definitely like to bid !
  12. I hate that wrinkling on the polybags and it can transfer to the book sooner than you think !
  13. Yes. I guess you're right, it's technically not on GPA but you can see it via the Link to CGC. It's a PITA to look at them individually but it's something.
  14. I hate it when sellers quote specific GPA stats to help their cause. When selling a CR/OW book is it fair to quote against the latest GPA stats for a White Pagers ? I wish we could thread krap more, I would love to call them out in the thread.
  15. He has to, not your fault, nothing you can do but wait. It's not like it's missing.
  16. It sounds like it has to go through Customs. Though I have used Fedex to send to Canada many times, I believe once it got detoured to Memphis and sat there awhile. I think they opened up the package but memory is foggy on it.
  17. How we deal with what kind of issues ? Besides the mylar, what's your question ?
  18. Apparently some did not read Mollie's post to limit the requests to SINGLE BOOK Upgrades and not use ranges. I think this is a fair request considering she has to address every issue manually, one at a time. It's a lot of work and the requestors here should be considerate of that.
  19. Ooops, sorry about that. However, you may have me confused with another famous Bob, even grumpier than me, Bob Storms of Highgradecomics. I'm not a dealer, I don't sell, and I don't attend East Coast shows.
