  1. Dude, I don't know where you are getting your information but you are misinformed. Multiple pressings for each Regular press submission is not normal procedure. Also, you are the newbie coming here to ask us questions. Why the attitude ? I'm trying to work with you here to understand and clear up your misconceptions but you are yelling and being derogatory. Your current conception of how the pressing service works, where they keep pressing, over and over again is wrong. Maybe, if you are paying for a same day Walkthru service, they will evaluate, spot press or do it again on occasion but not for the Regular service. Please, if you reply, try keeping it civil. All CAPS shows a bad attitude.
  2. - Collect secondary keys . Sometimes they turn into primary keys upon an announcement. - Collect the second appearance of major characters. I just picked up an ASM 135, 2nd app of the Punisher. Book is incredibly cheap and undervalued. Lots more examples out there. - Collect reprints and second printings. Collect the Last Issue of major titles. It's challenging and fun. - If you're a Marvel junkie try getting into DC. - Collect non key 10 cent books. Pick a genre like SciFi or Horror. Some great covers out there.
  3. If you do not prescreen then YES, they will press, even if there are no defects. This is the same answer everyone has given you but you seem to think the answer doesn't make sense ? I think the problem here is that you have the wrong impression of the pressing service. This statement by you, indicates to me, that you have a total misconception of the process....'If no judgement or review is ever done, then let me ask you ... how many times will they run it through press? 2X, 3X, 4X? and how will they know when to stop? ' What the heck are you talking about ?
  4. You said in your original post that you were NOT using CCS screening. This means they don't screen the book for pressing, they simply press. From CCS website.... Raw books, CGC-certified books and non CGC-certified books may be evaluated by CCS. The CCS Screening service determines whether pressing should be performed. If CCS believes that pressing would not benefit the comic, you will pay only the screening fee.
  5. There is going to be wax and wane over time for both companies. Consistency is a myth, it is not achievable. Staff turnover alone will make it not achievable. There is staff turnover between the companies, at the highest level possible. Let me ask you this, if consistency was a reality, why would anyone do a resub ? In theory, a resub should yield the same grade.
  6. Makes perfect sense to me. Many submit for pressing 'just in case'. Let me ask you a question. If they didn't press those two 'perfect' books and they ultimately grade lower than expected, would you complain about it ? It's up to you to decide what books to submit for pressing and you are correct that putting those two in a different submission would result in extra shipping charges.
  7. Sometimes the reputation of the Savannah pedigree precedes them. Funny story I heard from a reputable dealer. Upon submission of the Savannah copy of Hulk 181, it received a 9.6 CR/OW. Since the integrity of the book was flawless, except for the browning effect, the book was resubmitted a number of times, maybe by different owners, only to get the same grade. Finally, it was submitted without reference to the pedigree, and it got a 9.8 . Crazy.
  8. Like the Lizard, I am not fond of the Savannah pedigree either. I think I read somewhere that the books were stored in two different locations. One in a barn or garage and the other inside the house. I think the books stored in the barn or garage are the worst for preservation and the books inside the house better. I do have a couple Silver Age Savannah's with White pages that look fine but just a couple. Most Savannah's have CR/OW page quality with a browning effect on the cover. Not a fan.
  9. But the 'damage' has already been done and the corner is ready to fall off. While I would agree with you if CGC was negligent in their handling, in this case it may fall off with simply normal procedure. IMO, if that corner fell off, you cannot claim new 'damage'. I would also bet that somewhere in the submission form there is reference to liability. The submitter has to assume some responsibility for sending this in. It's a risk even taking it out of the bag and board.
  10. See my reply to SilverSniper, I don't think CGC would be liable. I think you should still call CGC to see if they have any special instructions. I do think the grade would be affected if that piece fell off.
  11. I disagree. Even with gentle handling that top right corner is ready to fall off. CGC has to handle the book, count the pages, inspect for resto, etc. If the corner fell off during the normal procedure, it would neither be their fault nor their liability. Between shipping both ways, grading, and the encapsulation process this is a risk. One thing for sure is, don't press the book. I also think if the corner fell off, it would effect the grade.
  12. It depends on what tier you submitted in. A standard tier is 15 business days.
  13. Cool signature that looks genuine even if not recognized by CGC. If the CT removal was successful, I wonder if you would have received a green Qualified because of the signature. Was this pic before or after the CT removal ? The label says 'small' amount which, in my experience usually means more than a single dot. I don't have an example handy but I have seen 'tiny' amount on the label, which can mean a single dot. Did CGC explicity say it was only one dot in the notes or did your Boardie friend say so ?
  14. Unfortunately, I already pay taxes on my HA winnings. It sucks because it puts you at a serious 10% disadvantage to non HA state bidders.
  15. Has anybody ever attended a Live Heritage auction ? If so, what is the procedure, do you just show up, do you need tickets I can't find any detail on how to attend on the website. If you are there and win, do you take the books home with you ? Any info would be appreciated.
  16. Yes, this is one book that would not get overlooked and get bumped if submitted lower.
  17. I would think an AF 15 would have to go in the Walkthrough tier. Also matches the price quoted you.. 3% FMV ($150 Min, $5,000 Max)
  18. You really have a way with words. I'm curious why you feel the need to laden your posts with so much profanity. Do you think you are impressing us ? Whoever you are, it's pretty obvious you are a shill.
  19. Did you try the website ? https://www.cgccomics.com/services/index.aspx
  20. I guess it's too much of an inside joke but Doug is known to keep resubbing until he gets the desired grade. Nice score on the ASM 41 !
  21. I'm assuming that's a printer's crease on the Back Cover? The top edge of the book has a lot of problems, some that are color breaking creases. The spine has a lot of spine tics and creases. Since the bottom right is off, it sure looks like a fold in the pic, I'm thinking 5.0 . I don't think this is an expensive book = I would not bother grading it.
  22. John, I once read where the #1 thing you should do in your lifetime to achieve financial security is................ never get divorced. Note, it doesn't state never get married, just don't get divorced.
  23. Not sure if this question is post worthy as I don't think there will be any debate at all ? 3. Has no white. Best. 1. Has a lot of white, but it is straight up and down. Okay, acceptable to some. 2. Has less white, but starts skinny at top and ends fat at bottom. Worst.
  24. Actually, you may recall there used to be a whole thread dedicated to Boardies praising Joey which was pulled. Around this time Harshen made this statement...... CGC provides its message boards as a service to the comic book collecting community. Although we value an open forum where users can discuss issues that affect the hobby, we will not allow our message boards to be used to promote our competitors. Several recent posts have done this and have been pulled. Going forward, we will pull any posts that violate this policy and may also choose to suspend or ban the poster. Joey is doing fine, has plenty of business and probably doesn't need any public promotion on the Boards. Joey, being a stand up guy, would probably agree with me.
