  1. I think I would rather have a lower graded Blue label. From reading the old thread above it would seem this book would be capped at 4.0, so I am going with 4.0 Blue.
  2. As a start, look at sold items on E-Bay . I suspect the ASM 300 is worth more than 200 and you may have to select a higher tier. The value you put on the form is what you will be insured for. It's a ball park number so don't over analyze it.
  3. That is strange. Different sellers, both an X-Men #2. I'm stumped.
  4. Show a pic as I have no idea what you are referring to but I suspect, as mentioned above, it's a unique code to the seller.
  5. With the new slab design it is nearly impossible to open up without cracking the slab. I'm sure the book was not tampered with. I concur that the book is a 9.8 as long as the label says it is a 9.8. However, it is your book and I suspect this flaw will bother you. I know I would not be happy with it.
  6. You are probably right. We would really need to see a pic to be more analytic. I once submitted a book with a tiny tear that came with a half inch tear. I was expecting a 7.5/8.0 and got a 6.5, which backs up your statement.
  7. If you are not interested in the grade, then why do you want to get it slabbed ? This is a big flaw, I think you will be disappointed in the grading results. I am also concerned that the top edge may be trimmed. I see, from the E-Bay listing, that the Back Cover has another piece missing. This book is in very bad shape. If there is any way to get your money back I would send it back. Sorry.
  8. I don't think they give a qualified grade for a tear. I suspect your guestimate is in the ballpark and an otherwise 8.5/9.0 will go down to 7.0 . Tears are tricky because they can get worse, especially from handling.
  9. That book does not look secure in the inner well. It appears to me the book is tilted. Looking at the front cover, the upper left corner is up against the top edge, while the right corner is angled with plenty of room to the top edge. It may have become damaged from the book moving in the inner well. Personally, I would not be happy with that book as a 9.8. I don't think a bindery chip like that is common on this book, at least my raw copy does not have it.
  10. If you submitted the book, the grader's notes are free. Why did you think you needed to purchase them ? It's possible the foxing is on the interior of the Back Cover ? There really is no process for a grade dispute. If you call, they will probably tell you they stand by their grade but you are welcome to send it in for a resubmit.
  11. Agreed. This is an old school first time post, showing us cool books .
  12. I think a reasonable response to the question of pressing preferences is fine and acceptable. However, historically, the topic seems to get out of hand, often turning into a kudos thread for certain pressers. There once was a whole thread dedicated to praising Joey alone, which CGC removed and Harshen issued his statement. Recommending a presser is fine, It's the ad nauseum singing of praises that follows that's the problem.
  13. This is not a long thread. Please read it and you will find your question is redundant, as is the answer which is NO. The CGC SS program works because they don't make exceptions. You are trying to circumvent the rules, you will not succeed.
  14. I'm not sure I understand your question(s) but, when viewing your books, the graders have no idea who submitted them. For most common Modern books, 9.8 is the most desirable grade, anything less is usually viewed as being a fail. Review your books carefully before submitting. If you can see a crease, fold, bend, fingerprint or most any flaw it may not get a 9.8 . Actually reading the book makes the book more susceptible to incurring a flaw.
  15. Great book in a great Pedigree with White Pages.
  16. Cool book ! I am bothered by an area in the middle of the top edge, Front Cover. It looks like that area was recently scraped, maybe to remove CT. The area scraped looks very fresh and white, not vintage. Now, looking at the Back cover I see some green bleed. As I cannot see the top of the book, the green may be overspray but I am suspicous the area had CT.
  17. Wow, the colors really pop. I really like the Twin Cities Pedigree. For some reason they remind me of the Mass pedigree. Both collections had the same characteristics.
  18. I agree but CGC is so lenient in this grade range that they may give it a 5.0 .
  19. - For the record, I did not report you, didn't even cross my mind. - Regarding Joey, no argument, he has an excellent reputation. I am just suggesting that you make your recommendations in a private manner. - As for your comment that it's not my right to censor your comment, I did not censor, I have no ability to censor. I only question whether it is in good taste. - I don't feel like my comments on pressing are negative. I am negative on certain aspects of pressing but not on pressing per se. I don't think any of the seasoned pressers, like Joey himself, have a problem with my comments. If they do, I am not aware of it. - I didn't say you brought this topic up, I said you revived it, unnecessarily IMO. I asked why you felt compelled to do so. - The margaritas are wearing off. I am in a weak and vulnerable state. Awaiting your knockout punch...........
  20. And where exactly did you get this very analytic statistic that CCS does a bad job 2 out of 3 times ? You have made it clear many times on the Boards that you love the work of Joey. That's fine, but why do you feel the need to push his services every chance you get here on the CGC Boards. Go on Facebook, rent a billboard, make a YouTube Video but I still feel it is disrespectful to promote here, especially when Harshen already said it will not be tolerated. BTW, any debate going on in this thread ended weeks ago. Why did you feel the need to post and start it up again ? Just to be clear, my comments do not reflect the quality of work of Joey or any other pressers. It's just showing respect to our hosts. I don't walk into Starbucks and tell their customers that Dunkin Donuts coffee is better, even though it is. Do you ? Also, what exactly is a 'bed reputation'. I sense someone had too many margaritas tonight. I know I did !
  21. There are examples of all the common 'bad press' flaws on the CGC website .....
  22. Not sure but I don't think they offer a Prescreen on a Quick press, only a regular press.
  23. Since the Yellow label costs more, I suggest putting that same money into a higher graded Blue Label. IMO, the Blue label will be easier to sell, in case you ever want to upgrade. You can always get a Blue Label signed to Yellow but you can never get the Yellow label back to Blue.
  24. At a glance it looks like the seller usually deals in sports cards, probably not familiar with comics. That is some bad grading.
  25. This happened to me ! Many years ago. It was a Strange Tales 110 inside an original label slab. I had just purchased it and decided to deslab it. On the early inner wells you didn't even need to do any cutting, just sort of peel it away. Upon starting to peel I see it is tearing away at the Front Cover. Thinking at first that I screwed up I soon see the cover was heat sealed all along one side = I never had a chance. I must admit CGC was very good about everything, totally taking responsibility. I got my money back from the seller. The seller was a dealer and big submitter so CGC made him whole with a generous store credit. Good times !!!
