  1. Yup. Minor damage like this was common on the comic book racks due to our persistently rainy weather here in the UK, especially at exposed sites such as bus stations. Luckily, the comics were only around for a month and the damage was limited, as can be seen from the image.
  2. As seems to be an understandably common reaction here, this is absolutely shocking and extremely sad. As well as being a very talented actor, an extremely strong individual who deserves immense admiration for his courage, managing to deliver such great performances for us throughout such difficult personal circumstances.
  3. Absolutely. This image perfectly describes the underground nature of being a comic collector in the UK when I started back in the 1970s. Misunderstood, marginalised outcasts, gathering occasionally, coven-like, in small hotel exhibition rooms, religiously enthusing about the sacred pamphlets, the thrill of their acquisition, and our creator icons. Then, it would be a return to school and the closet, to the predictability of being just another regular nerd, of understanding that disclosure of this alternative lifestyle would be sadistically mocked by your peer group.
  4. I prefer 'Guardian of the Sacred Pamphlets'. I take my comics seriously.
  5. Genius is always worth revisiting... Posted often. Because it's brilliant.
  6. Plenty more collectors with OCD perfectionism here, including me.
  7. Happy Birthday to one of comics’ greatest creative geniuses. Many of us, of course, consider him the greatest of all time.
  8. Having experienced the suicide of a close family member, I find comments like these to be absolutely appalling. It makes me even more pleased that, after a necessary recovery period, Snyder has been given the opportunity to return and complete his version of the Justice League film, which I’m looking forward to.
  9. I thought you might’ve mentioned the aura problem as well. They’re only half protected, and the other half might burn up.
  10. Isn’t it a classic American short order cook hat?
  11. Interesting. Is that the earliest use of ‘Darkseid Is’ ? I’m only familiar with it from Tom King’s more recent Mister Miracle series.
  12. You’ve seen worse. To me, it looks like a middle-aged woman doing Robin cosplay.
  13. There was a point in the early 90s when his art started getting more and more distorted to the point of looking sloppy. Red Rain was great, and I looked forward to the follow-up graphic novel, and was very disappointed. Up until that point, he’d been one of my favourite Batman artists for a long time. It’s certainly a very unique interpretation of Robin.
  14. Lockdown hair. From the ‘COVID in Gotham’ storyline. Mine looked just as rubbish a few weeks ago.
  15. Yup. It is the best artwork there. Maybe not Cardy's best, but far better than what's inside.
  16. You're right. I'm thinking there like a 50s Silver Age DC writer on one of their mystery or science-fiction titles, as shown recently in posts here. Thanks for the intervention. Appreciated.
  17. Cancelled Comic Cavalcade https://www.comics.org/issue/32383/ The second volume has more interesting material. Ditko, Starlin.
  18. I really like Ann Nocenti’s run on Daredevil. I’ve tried to re-read some more of her stuff over the last few years, such as Longshot and the Classic X-Men stories, but I’ve been quite underwhelmed by them. For me, the Daredevils are her best work, and still hold up.
  19. It was a bit of a heavy-handed way to show that Stewart had become very complacent.
  20. That’s a good point. Bullets can travel faster than the speed of sound, so if Supes is faster than a speeding bullet he should be destroying urban property and disturbing the peace with one shock wave after another. Kav can confirm for me.
  21. It’s a fairly disturbing panel. Reminds me of a local thug who was out with his very big dog, and without the slightest consideration for others around him, including me, allowed it to unleash an explosive, high-pressure torrent onto a post box, deflecting everywhere around. That was a long time ago, but I’ve mailed elsewhere since.
  22. Is it normal to be able to swivel your eye that far to the side? I can’t do it. Mirror imaged in my head, it looks quite wrong.
  23. My guess had been his classic Skateman comic.
