  1. A young Barry Smith was responsible for a lot of them.
  2. Slim, but you’ve clearly never seen actual old-school wasp waists.
  3. Really. I can come up with rubbish that’s better and less contentious than that in seconds; Mr Bifrosty Ices, Laufey’s Jotun-Style Ice Cream and Floats.
  4. We know he’s one of the most egotistical, big-headed characters ever created, but that’s ridiculous.
  5. Classic Silver Age imaginary story though, despite their fashion choices.
  6. Getting brilliant reviews. Great comic series.
  7. ‘Tlālōcān was reserved for those who had drowned or had otherwise been killed by manifestations of water, such as by flood, by diseases associated with water, or in storms by strikes of lightning.’ I see what they’re going for, but it’s a level of the underworld and not a direct comparison to Atlantis.
  8. At least they’ve had the sense not to go with this comic book accurate look for him…
  9. Some comic book accurate Namors might not work as well as either of those… Could be worse.
  10. Decided to take a break from Fallout 4. Reached the branching faction quests, but undecided which one to side with, as there’s some degree of grey and compromise required regardless of whichever you choose. So, just started God of War. Looks stunning on PS5 with the silky-smooth 60fps Enhanced Performance patch. In contrast, before that I tried Yakuza 3 Remastered for PS4 and couldn’t even start it, as the vertical panning during gameplay is vertigo-inducing. Two games, night-and-day difference.
  11. Interesting. He’s adapted his art to appear more like DC’s house style, quite different to the much harder, grittier style he used at Atlas. If he’d have maintained that at Marvel in the 60s, difficult to see where he’d have fit in well, maybe Sgt Fury. But, he was adaptable, and you can see him going from that DC style to something similar to Romita, and being fine with super-hero material. Having only seen his Atlas work I’d assumed he was a bit inflexible, though clearly I was wrong.
  12. Not to mention the DC material on top of all that.
  13. I’ve heard that. I’ll have to check in the morning whether my controllers have moved mysteriously during the night.
  14. It’s a short game, but compensated for by being released at a budget price. In theory, anyway, as Amazon U.K. had the upcoming PS 5 version on pre-order for £35, which is a bit of a gouge. I’ll wait, despite being a cat person.
  15. Never knew that. I just assumed it was something more innocuous, such as ‘Forum’.
  16. I’m stunned by some of the prices that have been shown here, especially those gory pre-Code horror covers. Sticker shock, vicariously, at a safer distance. In person, I’d be totally crushed.
  17. That’s why I posted the Midgard Serpent. The only one I could think of that’s even bigger. Just encountered him while playing God of War.
  18. Not wanting to get done over by Marvel and DC’s ‘work-for-hire and that’s it’ policy has led not just to creators withholding their new characters but having them give you far more variety in material over at Image, and far more interesting material that’s outside the house styles of the big two. The reader isn’t really losing out once you know where to go. Certainly far easier to get your head around than the confusing and mind-numbing description above, with all its permutations of Goblins, Hobgoblins and Demogoblins. Gave up on paying attention with that content, and also kills interest in the development of Norman Osborn as a character. Just left with the conclusion that I couldn’t be bothered with what Marvel do with him in future, as it feels like change for the sake of change, the illusion of change, small changes to the colour of the costume, an evil character is suddenly on the other side, back and forth, let’s throw any idea at the wall and see what sticks. And, that same response can be applied to any character in the same situation. It’s all a lot less convoluted and more interesting if you focus on the indie and creator-owned material.
  19. Time, circumstances, experience, sometimes it just clicks and it all comes together.
