Lee Enterprises replied to Silver's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Just won this TOS #47 CGC 9.4 beauty. I've always liked this cover. There's nowhere to hide from the Melter... -

I watched a lot of the Heritage bidding action today. That's a major league score and a beautiful book...even white pages. Congratulations! -

I was happy to pick-up this ST Annual #2. I had a CGC 8.0 some years ago and then upgraded a little with this one. I love that old Jack Kirby Spider-Man drawing. -

Journey Into Mystery Appreciation Thread

Jack Kirby...what a legend. I'm sure when all these characters from Captain America to FF to Thor and all the rest were first created and drawn, he could not have imagined the impact they would have on the world. To think that these artists were originally doing all this for work (and their love of storytelling and drawing, of course) to provide for themselves and their families...unbelievable. -
Yeah. There are some absolutely amazing items in this Heritage auction. I wonder if Metropolis has the high bid on the Action #1 8.5. I believe they own the two 9.0s that sold not too long ago. This will be a fun one to watch. I'm hoping to win something good under the radar with all the money being spent on the top shelf books.

Silver age comics that are heating up
Lee Enterprises replied to rabidwolf's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Even if the market is still cooling, this book warms my heart and will keep my other Spideys company until things heat up again. -

Have a Cigar! Golden Age only....!
Lee Enterprises replied to Shield's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
I finally scored a high grade book from The Promise Collection. I really like these early Tracy covers. The bidding has been intense on Promise books I've watched at auction (especially superhero titles). I was dreaming of winning some under #100 Action Comics issues recently at Heritage and got blown out of the water when the bidding heated up so I'm just happy to own one Promise book...so far. -
I've had several copies of ASM #2 over the years and then decided to take the plunge with this SS book. I know it has 2 strikes against it being both restored (small color touch) and trimmed, but it would be tough to find one that looks better at first glance. It was signed by a celebrity who went by Stan the Man!

I picked up this ASM #25 CGC 9.6 with white pages a while back to upgrade the CGC 8.5 I had. That Steve Ditko cover is spectacular! -

This Week in Your Bronze Age Collection!!
Lee Enterprises replied to TupennyConan's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
I finally jumped in on a first Moon Knight appearance. Prices have been all over the place for this issue, but I was glad to get a high grade CGC 9.6 copy with that famous classic cover. -
Bronze Age Fantastic Four Appreciation Thread
Lee Enterprises replied to Mr Sneeze's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
This FF #112 CGC 9.6 is a new acquisition for me that I'm not sure I ever owned unless it was in a collection I quickly sold. I went for this one because of the high grade. The miswrapped cover bugs me a little but there are only so many available for sale at any given time at a reasonable price. Despite the technical stuff, I love that black battle cover. -
What's new in your Silver Age collection this week
Lee Enterprises replied to Silver's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
I was happy to win this when the dust had settled. It appears to be tied with one other 9.6 as the highest graded Action Comics #290. I typically don't bid for top population books because of the big price premium, but I really wanted this one. I like these early DC Silver-Age covers. -

I won this big boy recently to upgrade from my CGC 8.0 signed by Stan the man that I really enjoyed having.
