  1. Thanks. There are a few higher grade copies of ST Ann 2 if you are interested.....the owner had 54 copies of it in total. I only took the slabbed copies and few raws to get a reduced price on the collection. What type of stuff are you bringing to the show?
  2. These books were in the collection for no reason other than the owner said he got a deal he could not refuse on them.
  3. If you are interested in Ducks, I just realized I did not post the Four Color photo. I will do that in a bit. The run starts with a CGC 4.0 FC #29. As far as Red & White show, it depends on what I get graded this weekend and during the week. I will likely have some of it at the show this weekend, but I was looking at saving the Marvel runs for the Edmonton Expo. If you are going to the Red & White, drop me a PM with books you are interested in and I can grade/price them out first.
  4. So the ETA for filming starting is.....2020? 2025?
  5. I just picked up a collection that has a lower grade Hulk #1 (missing centrefold and some color touch). The owner said he traded a spare Magnus #12 for it in 1993.
  6. He only had a couple of Batbooks, unfortunately:
  7. How were your sales at the show? I might be tempted to set up next year. The only issue being I would need to have enough spare room for my wife's wine purchases.
  8. There are four pre-hero Marvel books, and some SA DC. There are 120+ slabs not shown in this pic as well.
  9. Nice! 1st Killer Frost and 1st Vibe should have some demand.
  10. That plays a part for sure. Super-heroes are the new Jedi. However, they turned off a lot of their hard core fans with the latest "Got Milk" installment and Solo was their ability to protest the direction of the franchise. Having a weak film (I have not seen it, but I have heard from friends it is not good) did not help either.
  11. A sneak preview of the new collection for the Edmonton Expo..........................
  12. Solo was doomed to fail after the last main Star Wars flick turned off a lot of fans. M:I-F opens in China this coming weekend. I am curious to see how much of a drop off their is for Ant-Man 2 since the last M:I did so well over there. In any case, it does look like $600M is more likely now, which is a huge win for Ant-Man as a property. It is likely the worst property that Marvel/Disney has, but it is still another money maker.
  13. The issue with selling on the boards is this - for the most part, everyone here is well aware of the market and is looking to buy with an average discount of 10% off of GPA just like they bid on Clink/CConnect/HA/etc. We are also well aware of the fees that can be avoided by selling on the boards and make offers accordingly. On books like IH 181 that are in a run up, sellers are less willing to discount the prices here. As a result, the books go unsold until GPA catches up with them a month later.........by which time the seller has already moved them to another venue for the FMV or just pulls it off the market.
  14. Without a press, I would grade and price this as 3.0. There are a lot of creases, tears and handling/reading bends on it, as well as light soiling/transfer. After a press, I can see 4.0/4.5.
  15. The only FF 1 Artgerm that will likely have legs is the Sue Storm cover, for some reason............
  16. He's not alone in thinking that. There are a lot of collections amassed in the 60s to mid-70s that are "black holes," but which are starting to come to market. This will inevitably have some type of impact because it will represent an increase in supply. Will demand stay strong? Could be. Or it could be that we'll see the values of some comics which are selling at a premium (especially top of census books or SA "pedigrees") lose some of their luster. Edited Tuesday at 05:27 PM by sfcityduck I have been able to land a few OO collections like this in the late 90s through late 00s, and two observations I gleaned from them are: 1) grading was not as big of a deal back then as it is now, so a 1970s NM is more likely to be VF than NM; and 2) color touch and tape did not matter much if the collector bought books second hand. This will make true HG GA/ earlySA collections more difficult to find. I am not saying that high grade collections are not out there (I have had a line on a collection like this for a year and a half now but the owner can't quite let go yet despite his wife's orders . I need to bribe her to turn up the pressure! ), but the actual condition of the books tends to be less than expected more often than not.
  17. Awesome! Will he have a booth at the Expo? I hope so. When he was in Calgary a few years back I was able to get him to sketch a couple of blank covers and I would like to add a few more if possible.
  18. Maybe they go for more in Australia?
  19. Those other 9.8 copies are not the books you are looking for...................this is the book you want!
  20. Ah. Too bad. I was hoping to pick a copy up in Edmonton. We will have a bunch of great new stuff at the Clobberin Time booth this year. Dave and Karl will have The Steranko Collection Part Deux: Brian will be pulling more keys from his vault, and I will have a new SA Marvel collection and some other goodies for the show.
  21. Good call. Edmonton will be a better con. Will FanExpo have any of the Detective #880 Black Foil variants available for the Edmonton show?
