  1. Marvel put out 106 titles in August, which is roughly 25% more than DC (78)? I did not think any company had over 100 titles - how many of those are money losers? Looking at the number of titles and market capture, the indie publisher are in bad shape. Image and IDW published 62 and 56 titles respectively last month, but only received corresponding dollar shares of 10.06% and 4.81%? How many Image creators are working for pennies an hour at that rate?
  2. The market is gapping up again on these covers. I have been watching since late 2015, and did not start pulling the trigger on them until earlier this year, which was a year too long to wait. Prices have doubled on a lot of the late 40s through early 50s classic Joker and Catwoman covers over the past 12 - 18 months. Even the early to mid 60s Joker covers are creeping up now as well.
  3. Yes, it was a good show with a couple of big books (DD #1 and ASM #3, both 6.0) moving, which is great to see for a one day, 7 hour show (10:00 am - 5:00 pm). A lot of smaller stuff moved as well. I did better in the end than I thought I did, and I had the lowest sales numbers out of the four of us.
  4. I don't think it is all sold out. It looks like there is an error with the site. The four book set is gone, but I can still place orders for the others. FWIW, Cover A is the one that looks the best to me. The reverse/negative one is okay, but the B and C covers are weak IMHO.
  5. The prices are definitely high, but since it is Black Cat he is going to sell them out fast.
  6. Nice books. I have to dig through my Image boxes to see how many newsstand copies I have. My worry is that I dumped a bunch of them in a sale of back stock to my LCS last year.
  7. Not a fan of the Venomized one, to be honest, but the others are okay. I liked the Avengers #8 assortment better.
  8. I have heard tales of some lumbering, romance book-collecting creepers who live up north, but we're in need of a change of scenery, so we're going to risk it. Go to Victoria instead. The collector are much nicer there than the ones in Vancouver.
  9. Why waste your time with Vancouver? Seattle is a much nicer city.
  10. Looks like a great buy to me. With all of the Valiant movies and TV shows in the works this will only go up in value.
  11. If you want it badly enough and don't care about price, then go ahead.
  12. You should see some of the steals there are to be had.........
  13. How come you aren't going to it? There are a lot of great finds each year from some of the smaller guys that don't do the big shows.
  14. Are they doing the Red & White show or the Edmonton Expo?
  15. The fall one day Red & White show is being held in Calgary this weekend. I am curious to see what the turnout will be - the note they sent to exhibitors this week indicated that 5,000 passes had been handed out already. Hopefully the sales are strong as it is the first show of the fall season here in Alberta. Any other boardies planning on being there?
  16. Ummm.......okay. Not totally underwhelming, bylut someplace between 65-75% underwhelming
  17. I was expecting it to do well based on the SS experience. As I have posted here a number of times, all of the girls/women I knew of between 12 - 25 saw SS 2 - 4 times. It was a no brainer with WW as well. This is a huge untapped area for comic movies. When I look at how many new female collectors/readers have entered the market since DC New 52 and the Image 2012 crop of new books (Rat Queens and Saga especially) it was a no brainer that the first studio to launch strong female leads would have a gold mine on their hands. I am shocked that Marvel did not do this with Black Widow, to be honest. My wife and daughter both asked me if there would be a solo Widow film after the first Avengers. Disney/Marvel missed the boat if that was not a question in their post-viewing market research. FWIW, I would like to see Saga adapted for an ongoing TV show. That would be a huge hit with the female viewership.
  18. Tony Stark = MCU's Bruce Wayne. I can understand why they are milking it as much as they are as it is an anchor that can sort of connect all of the other dots in the MCU similar to how WB/DC uses Batman. I did not care for Spider-Man in Civil War, but since I have not seen Homecoming I can't say anything about Iron Boy. I like the name, though.
  19. Suicide also benefited from having a strong female lead just like Wonder Woman. Like I posted in the SS thread, my daughter and most of her friends/friends' older sisters saw SS 2 - 4 times. It resonated well with the 12 - 25 female crowd. Wonder Woman did the same. There are still females I know of that are doing WW movie nights since there is nothing else that interests them, even though they have seen it already.
  20. Less than a month to go........ Who will be at the Red & White show in Calgary on the 10th?
