  1. Are these prices strong, weak, or in line with other recent results? Any surprises to the low or high side?
  2. So, how did the Mound City prices on the JLAs stack up? I am not a JLA collector, but I am curious to see how the DCs are doing across the board in this auction.
  3. Good point. Marvel 9.4 = DC 9.0 in toughness to find for 1960 - 1963, but it is probably 8.0 for the late 50s DCs. I was shocked at the prices for the 8.0 GL #15 and 8.5 GL #18, but they are not that easy to find in high grade.
  4. Were these the only Green Lantern issues sold? They also had slabbed copies of #85 and #86 that I did not list, as well as a late 60s/early 70s FN to VF+ lot.
  5. Whoever landed the 9.4 copy of GL #1 for $18K is laughing even more. That was you, right? Congrats!
  6. There were some very interesting GL prices in today's Mound City Auction. I guess the cat is out of the bag now? Whoever, landed that CGC 8.0 copy of GL #1 in the low $3Ks is laughing. #1 CGC 9.2: $29,000 + $4,350 BP #2 CGC 8.0: $450 + $67.50 BP #3 CGC 9.2: $2700 + $405 BP #4 CGC 9.2: $3500 + $525 BP #5 CGC 8.5: $200 + $30 BP #6 CGC 9.0: $750 + $112.50 BP #7 CGC 9.0: $2300 + $495 BP #8 CGC 6.5: $90 + $13.50 BP #9 CGC 7.0: $90 + $13.50 BP #10 CGC 7.5: $100 + $15 BP #11 CGC 9.6: $4800 + $720 BP #12 CGC 8.5: $100 + $15 BP #13 CGC 8.5: $275 + $41.25 BP #14 CGC 8.5: $205 + $30.75 BP #15 CGC 8.0: $400 + $60 BP #16 CGC 8.5: $500 + $75 BP #17 CGC 6.0: $30 + $4.50 BP #18 CGC 8.5: $600 + $90 BP #19 CGC 7.5: $70 + $10.50 BP #20 CGC 8.5: $375 + $56.25 BP #21 CGC 9.0: $160 + $24 BP #22 CGC 9.0: $375 + $56.25 BP #23 CGC 7.5: $60 + $9 BP The most interesting prices to me were GL #15 and #18. I guess this means that any early Sinestro cover appearances are hot? I was also shocked to see that the CGC 9.0 GL #22 is the highest CGC graded copy to date.
  7. I dropped out of bidding on the GL #7 when it passed the $2K mark. I really feel like a fool for selling my 9.2 a couple years back now. Yeah...I also stopped looking when it passed $2K. I couldn't imagine what your old GL 7 9.2 would sell for these days...whom would have known. Judging from the good results from this auction, the vintage comic market is very healthy. I really think quality material will always be in demand and good long term investments. Now is the time to start stocking up on other early GL issues in 9.0 higher judging by the auction results. Heck, even some of the lesser copies, like the 8.0 GL #15 at $400 and the 8.5 GL #18 at $600 are very strong prices.

  9. Have we seen your 7.0 I don't believe the club has ever seen Foolkiller's 7.0 off-white copy yet. It would be a pleasure to see Foolkiller's copy since it's in the 6.0 and above club (one of the few which we have not seen yet). You should see his 8.0. Are you saying he's going for the Mound Copy or what....? He was making a joke -- possibly even a double entendre about the size of his wee-wee. Here's the 7.0 o/w -- PM him if anyone is interested as it's "for sale": No, I thought you guys had snagged an 8.0 for some reason as well and was baiting for a scan. I stand corrected. (thumbs u

  11. Well, this might impact the Mound City prices a bit:
  12. Nice. The Mound City copies are not pressed, right? That might help the price go a bit higher than expected.
  13. Actually, I started one a little while back but it died a quick death since membership in that club is even more exclusive than SC #22. (thumbs u
  14. Hope you received a generous price for it...otherwise you may have to chase it for a much higher price later since it's a 4.5 copy. Seems like all copies available are 2.5-3.5 and are being snatched up like hotcakes in the $900-1400 price range (the more affordable copies). (thumbs u I received a fair price for it (I will not disclose it - the buyer can if they would like to). The money will be going towards another investment in the hopes that in a year or two I will be able to afford a much nicer copy. (thumbs u ...as in the Mound copy ? No, I will not be buying any big $$$ books for a while. FWIW, I am not interested in that copy since I buy the book not the label.

  16. My guess is that a 3.0 is someplace in the $500 - $600 range. There are a lot of them out there in low grade just like SC #22.
  17. Sig will change when I receive the full payment. The book is still in my hands for a little while longer.
  18. Well, it is official now. I am no longer a member of this prestigious club.........for the time being.
  19. Very cool! Thanks for sharing. (thumbs u
  20. Would you rather buy a raw or slabbed VF copy of Action #1 from an unknown "long time" collector?
  21. Okay, enough sidetracking. Who actually has a raw SC #22 that is willing to post the interior pages? Unfortunately, on these boards an unslabbed copy of any key is probably a rare item!
  22. Did I wait too long to sell off my last copy?
  23. Wow, no new posts since the football talk yesterday. I guess this book is slowing down.
  24. Have you come across any new ones lately? Were there any copies at the New York show this weekend? I have been offered several copies lately, passed... I was watching Florida football this weekend (and every weekend in the fall)...don't goto shows (miss Balt every year, and this year NY) You mean you were "nervously" watching Gator f'ball this weekend... - Arkansas boy frustrated is more like it... I hate to say it, but the Gators are starting to look more like the 2005 USC Trojans as the season goes on - a dominant team that gets knocked off in a big game due to underperformance on one side of the ball. For the Trojans, their D was an issue, but I think it is the O that is the problem for the Gators. this past weekend, it was tebow holding onto the ball too long...4 of the 6 sacks were easily avoidable... our Oline is fine (thumbs u (heck, we had the #2 rushing attack in the country) But how many of those rushing yards are Tebow? And yes, I know you have two good backs and a good o-line as well. The biggest concern is the lack of receiving talent, to be honest, and Tebow's general "average" rating as a throwing QB. It will be interesting to see you and Bama slug it out for the SEC title in December. That being said, I just have this feeling about the Gators this year like I did about the Trojans in 2005 and even the Patriots against the Giants. You know that on paper they are overwhelming favorites, but you start to see things pop up throughout the season that can give you warning signs and as they add up anything can happen. FWIW, I think that the Gators playcalling (and the SEC as a whole, to be honest) is a bit too conservative. Granted, with Harvin catching passes for Favre you do not have a legitimate deep threat to stretch the field any longer, but I also think that Meyer et al are calling games against tougher foes from a "not to lose" perspective instead of attacking.
