  1. Beautiful book, Roy! It has a much better cover than those cheesy Schomburg Marvel Comics issues.
  2. There are already 3 in the current CC auction, and they close in a few days. http://www.comicconnect.com/bookSearch.p...arch=Run+Search And that 5.0 has a history. Supposedly, it was sold raw, subbed and came back purple 5.0, returned to Metro, then appears now in the auction as a blue 5.0. The thread is in general by the peeved buyer. I did not realize that one was in the auction. My comment on it was that the grade looked suspect to me as well.
  3. So, when will a copy finally pop up in a Clink, Comicconnect or Heritage auction?
  4. Thanks, but I never was a big fan of Wonder Woman. Does he have any of the GL, Batman, Tec, JLA or Flash issues? Foolkiller's 9.0 JLA 21 that was up in the marketplace a few months back was from this collection and might still be around. Check with him. He may have a few others left as well. In fact, that's probably who you got the GL 9 from. The bulk of the collection went to an overseas collector who isn't going to resell them. Thanks for the info. I think it was that FS thread that got me to contact Brian in the first place. Would the overseas collector have any other early GLs? If yes, do you think he would be interested in a trade?
  5. Hadn't thought about it, but it WOULD be nice to have a reading copy. Does this mean you have a 9.4 copy already - if yes, very sweet! (thumbs u
  6. I think you should start a GL 7 thread. titled "lame covers i have loved" It IS an incredibly lame cover. But I was thinking more along the lines of "Pump Up the Volume Pt. II" Been there, done that already (see thread from early this year or last year). No sense tipping off the masses yet until I accumulate a few more. Worked out well with the SC #22, though. I think I will start doing this with any book I have multiple copies of now.
  7. Thanks, but I sold a nicer copy to a board member earlier this year. (thumbs u
  8. Interesting, there are fewer copies of GL #7 available on the market in any condition than Showcase #22 right now. I wonder how some of these books (#5 and #16 as well) will do once the actors have been cast for all of the characters.
  9. Thanks. I got lucky and sent a PM at the right time to foolkiller. (thumbs u
  10. Thanks, Tim. Are you going after the 9.2 Adventure #247 in the CC auction?
  11. AF 15's have "collapsed" of late... 8.0 copies were fetching $80-85K, now the last 3 have gone for $66k, 70K and 72K... that is , as an extreme, a 25% price correction (or collapes, if you will) Haven't 8.5 copies taken a hit as well? They are still holding up okay in 6.0 and lower, but I think most collectors are priced out about the $10K mark so it will be hard to keep prices up on the high end. I agree that it is good to see prices come down on AF #15 since there are so many copies out there and the price has hit levels too high for people to sustain IMHO. $10K for a 5.5 copy still seems way too high to me.
  12. Thanks, but I never was a big fan of Wonder Woman. Does he have any of the GL, Batman, Tec, JLA or Flash issues?
  13. I bought the #9 as a 9.0 and the #20 as a 9.0/9.2 and I agree with both (9.2 on the #20 most likely). I might submit the GL #20 for slabbing just to see how CGC treats books with two sets of staples. Since it is a printing defect, it should be fine, right?
  14. It will be interesting to see how GL #5 does, as well, since Hector Hammond is another character they supposedly have a casting call out for.
  15. Thanks. I have known for a long time that #7 is tough to find in higher grades, but I was surprised at how difficult the other issues are as well.
  16. Nice book. I used to own it, came out of a large 60s DC OO collection I found. Got any of the other early SA DCs left?
  17. Here are three new 10 centers that arrived today:
  18. Here are some new additions from foolkiller/Brian that arrived today: And a super sweet book that was double stapled at the printers (printing defect):
  19. Considering OSPG would give them an 8% bump each year, not a bad return if only guide price bumps worked in the real world.
  20. With the weak US dollar and interests from overseas collectors and investors, take this opportunity to add a position for the long term if it pulls back a little. i don't know why i thought that after i retired from the hedge fund biz, i was done w/ hype artists Yup. I'm pretty much done checking out this thread. Wait until some new books are posted here and we can ooh and ahh over them instead of fill time with chatter.
  21. I picked this one up in August and it arrived last week:
  22. We are also likely seeing an initial plateau after most collectors who have wanted a copy for a while now went out and grabbed one. It will be interesting to see how prices hold as more copies enter the market.
  23. I only have one copy, and it is not a 6.0+ copy either.
