  1. Raw first print #1's still seem to be going for $50- slabbed 9.8's around $100 Thanks. Looks like it is worth flipping quickly, then.
  2. How much is Chew #1 worth right now? I snagged an unread NM+ (maybe better) copy from my LCS during their boxing day sale.
  3. Very nice. (thumbs u I have always liked the Flash/GL crossover covers in both titles like your copy of #43. There are some good ones.
  4. I think anything under $1800 is a good deal for a 7.0 with at least cream/off-white pages. Since your 7.5 sold for 3K, it may help the 7.0 a bit. 1960's Green Lantern seems to do quite well in high grade. 7.0s should move up a bit higher than $2200 closer to the movie, so you are fine if you only paid $1600 for your copy. Like other DC SA "#1s", it picks up in prices closer to the 8.0 mark. That being said, I should have listed my copy at $3500 in hindsight just to see what would have happened. I know that Metropolis has a copy on their website for $3100, so pricing above that might have been pushing it, but my copy did sell much faster than I expected.
  5. Definitely if you can squeeze at least a 7.5 out of it. Otherwise, 7.0s have been all over the place between $1600 and $2200 recently.
  6. I agree that the #8 could have sold for more, that is a nice looking book. I think your #7 is priced just right. #15 should sell soon. It's a tough book with highest graded in 9.4 . I think the problem with #8 is that it is not that tough to find in 9.0 or lower relative to the #6, #7 or #9. It will be interesting to see what a higher grade copy will bring.
  7. Congrats, that was a great pickup. I saw it a while back and I was tempted. I'm surprised it lasted this long. Slobodians are generally really nice copies in hand. Thanks to the climate in Winterpeg.
  8. I was the one who called it a 6.0 to 6.5. That might have been a bit harsh, but I can't believe this copy is now an 8.5 with the light stain and other damage that was present in the original scans. Anyone know who bought the book in the first place? That might explain the "grading".
  9. Well, it looks like the main GL title is picking up in demand now as well for issues #10 and under. I listed my lower grade issues on Clink late last week and the #6 (7.0) sold for $250 within a few hours and my #8 (8.0) just sold for $450 (could have held out for more, I think). I listed my better copies on Clink yesterday and the #1 in 7.5 is gone at $3,000. No hits on the higher issues (#15, #18, or #20), and the #7 and #9 are priced to not sell. FWIW, all of the early issues that Worldwide comics had on hand a couple of months ago are gone as well.
  10. And here's my early GL group pic. I figured I should take one just in case they start to break up.
  11. Well, here's my new GL #7 and yes, it has the fugly white stripe.
  12. Yeah, it was a fugly miswrap. Normally not my preference to buy a book like that, but it's not like there were a bunch of other 9.6s and 9.4s to choose from. You are talking about Spunkydo's? It looks to have a white spine, but not really crooked at all. Why fugly? If it ain't close to or perfectly centered, it's fugly.
  13. Yeah, it was a fugly miswrap. Normally not my preference to buy a book like that, but it's not like there were a bunch of other 9.6s and 9.4s to choose from. True enough. That is the one and only 9.4+ copy to date. I think it has a great chance of staying there for a long time as well since the book did not have Sinestro on the cover.
  14. Was the white strip on the spine the same on your old 9.6?
  15. Are any of the HG GL #7s perfectly centered, or do they all have the white stripe on the spine?
  16. Not as much as Bunky Brian, though. (thumbs u
  17. After looking at it closely, I believe it is my old 9.2. Just in case anyone is interested in doing this, the book was not pressed and had a couple of bends that can probably be corrected, but there is a tiny edge tear on the middle of the right side due to a slight overhang that will hold it back from 9.4. The owner needs to post better pics/scans if he wants to sell it for a decent price IMHO. It will be interesting to see where it ends up, regardless. (thumbs u
  18. I wouldn't worry about that, Ryan. If there's one thing that the last few years have shown, it's that the reputation of GA collectors being "real" collectors, and SA collectors just being flippers, is a myth. Sure you've got your old school collectors Anderson, Verzyl and Berk who picked up their primo GA books for relative pennies and have locked them away, but it seems that in recent years, once a really nice GA book comes to the market, it keeps reappearing. In contrast, the NM SA mega-keys (both Marvel and DC) that appeared in the 2001-2003 time frame have disappeared from the market. With the exception of some TOS 39s when the Iron Man movie broke big and the odd 9.2 Hulk 1 or 9.6 ASM 1 here and there, there was a real drought until 2008-2009, indicating that the prime books had truly been absorbed into real collections. When some books started appearing on the market again in 2008 and 2009, we saw record-breaking prices because SA collectors knew the opportunity to acquire the books truly was limited. Good point, Tim. I am torn since I do not want to put any more savings into funny books right now until I see which way the economy and markets are going to go. If they take another hit as I suspect, then it will be better to have cash on hand for investing and collecting purposes. If I sell, the only book I will probably keep is the GL #7 since it is so hard to find in even 8.0 or better condition. I guess my GL #9 is probably a keeper as well since 9.0 is 2nd highest graded after 9.2, but it is not as important to me as #7.
  19. I am looking at it from more of a perspective that more long held GA collections will surface in the next couple of years due to the age of the owners and financial needs thanks to the recession/depression. This might be the best chance to chase them before they disappear into collections for another extended visit. WRT my new GL #7, I will post scans when it arrives back from CGC later this week.
  20. No. I will post the new GL #7 when it arrives back from CGC this week. I am debating whether I should unload them to start chasing some pre-Robin Tecs and early Action issues, to be honest, since it looks like we might start to see more long held GA collections surface the next two years.
  21. I dropped out once it crossed the $300 barrier since I was looking at it as a copy to flip down the road and they did not post a back cover scan. Looks like the bar has been set much higher for even mid grade GL #7s, or this one has more potential than the stated grade.
  22. Well.....either this copy is undergraded or the Mound City 9.0 sale is starting to drive up prices for lower grade copies as well. The final price with BP was $388.38 for the raw 6.0 GL #7 on Heritage tonight: http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=191220&Lot_No=12333&type=bidnotice-outbid
