  1. If you can get those prices, you will set a record for the 4.0. Good chance though when the movie approaches. Let's just say that it is a scarce book in these parts, just like any early SA DC or Marvel key, so I should have a good shot at it.
  2. Let's hope this 3.5 hits that ask price. FWIW, I will be pricing my 4.0 at $2,000 and my 2.0 at $800 for the local spring shows. Last year someone bought a 1.5 copy of Adventure #247 for $1,000, so hopefully they are looking for a SC #22.
  3. I think the prices have run up enough for now on GL #7. There has been a fairly steep haircut on 9.0 prices (basically 1/3rd drop) since the Mound City sale. My guess is that the next leg up will be smaller and not occur until closer to the movie.
  4. So, now that the first couple of shows have passed this spring can anyone comment on what the market is like for SC #22? Still high demand with collectors asking for it, or has it lost a lot of steam?
  5. Wow. That was a great price for the seller on that copy of #25.
  6. I bid on the Mound copy, but stopped before $1500. That 9.2 is a fabulous copy on ComicLink and that 9.0 sold on ComicLink has great eye appeal. The 9.2 is my old copy, and it fetched a whopping $1500 two or three years ago on Clink.
  7. The Mound City 9.0 got up to $3300 since there were three motivated bidders on it - me, another boardie, and the GL collector who was there just for those books. I bowed out at the $2500 mark on it, but those two chased it further. I sold my copy for less a couple of months ago on the boards via PM for more than this one, so the market seems to be a bit saturated for HG GL #7s right now with the 9.2 still listed on Clink. My guess is that if another 9.0 is offered for sale within the next two months it will go for less.
  8. Excellent. Please let them do Kingdom Come with Peter Jackson at the helm since the battle scene at the end would match what he had to do with LOTR's big fight scenes.
  9. Also, first Green Lanter movie...so no surprise. I am a big Green Lantern fan but geek forbid if the movie bombs or is mediocre next year? you never know as I remember when Daredevil and Ghost Rider were red hot! any thoughts? It won't bomb. Ryan Reynolds is great and he's no dummy to take on a dumbarse flick. I think that the era of halfarsed Superhero movies is drawing to an end as Hollywood sees how much attention a well made movie will draw. I agree with you Roy. Comic based movies are a great package since they come with some degree of market acceptance and fanbase built in, have a storyline that most people are/can readily be familiar with (see Watchmen tpb sales as an example of how fast people can jump in), and there are mutilple additional channels to profit from (toys, cards, clothing, cartoons, etc.). This is why Disney bought Marvel, IMHO, since Spidey, Wolverine, the X-men, etc. have replaced Mickey, Donald and Goofy with today's children. (thumbs u On the other hand, Warner did produce Superman Returns recently.
  10. Grab a decent looking copy now before the movie spike hits in fuller force. The books to get are: #1, 7, 8, 9 (1st Sinestro cover and very tough in HG), #15 (prices are down right now but 2nd Sinestro cover), #16, #18, #29 (1st Black Hand = Blackest Night), #40, #76, and #87.
  11. Not a surprise since SC #22 is a far cooler book.
  12. It will be interesting to see if this copy turns up fast on eBay via roboj or someone else as a deslabbed HG SC #22 without the trimming being noted.
  13. Take that, evildoers! It's been happening so often...a flipper lost again and this is the seller reaction A big part of the probem with the Mound City early GL books is that prices were driven up by one collector who was chasing and outbid by the speculators. As we know, the market is small at the top end for SA DCs so once a couple of the collectors fill their runs with suitable alternative copies prices have nowhere to go but down. The pancake and flip game works better with SA Marvels since the pool of buyers is much larger. In addition, I think that since it was speculators who purchased a lot of these books initially they have shut out most of the other speculators who could have bid up books on a slab and flip premise. The blatant "upgrading" of these books likely sours collectors as well since they can easily see what the "raw" grade was before the pancake and reslab since this was a high profile auction. Add in the fact that the MC books sold at a market top, and you have a recipe for disaster from a profit perspective.
  14. I missed the auctions due to running around with the kids, but I thought that the #6 went for a good price considering I sold the 7.0 copy I posted on the site in December for $250 within 24 hours.
  15. Is any one going after the Rocky Mountain books that end tonight?
  16. Can you remove pieces easily? If yes, it might be worth it to buy a restored copy like that for cheap, remove the work, and sell it for a tidy profit as unrestored?
  17. Looking at this 7.0 makes me wonder where all of the other 6.0 - 7.5 copies that were abundany last year have ended up. You would see 7.0 copies in every auction and on the bay, but the supply is downright pitiful right now.
  18. Now I remember it - the top left corner chip is the reason I did not bid.
  19. That copy looks familiar...........which auction did it recently sell in? Or, was it the 4.5 from the boards?
  20. Excellent! Looks like my thrill bid on the Quality Comix 2.0 will work out nicely based on the recent eBay sale.
  21. Congrats and nice PQ!!! +1 - Congrats on the nice pick up! (thumbs u
  22. You must did quite well... . I think this copy should do okay, but would have done better late last year. I will have to stay content with this copy (bought as a FN-) that just came in for now. If only it did not have the back edge chipping. However, at the price I paid it is definitely worth it.
  23. Rick, was it a GA book? I have noticed that their grading of GA is way off, unfortunately.
  24. Has anyone started a "Pancaked Mound City" thread like we used to have here for the Ewert and other books? If not, we should start one.
  25. Nope. I sold my copy via a PM offer from another boardie. (thumbs u
