  1. Nah - it will be a temporary delay if any. As I stated in the Comics General thread, this is a long term trend we will see more often as the $US declines in value a bit. The flip side is that it will mean more movies will be shot in the USA which will keep jobs and $$$ there for the industry. WRT the impact on the book, I don't think it will do much unless it is outright cancelled. Even then, SC #22 has been undervalued for so long that it will not drop much if at all. The true movie hype phase has not kicked in yet - this is just the rush to reserve a copy now. Sounds good but you know Hollywood. Once things hit a kink, people tend to move on to the next project and revival takes a long time. I hope not. I'm looking forward to the movie. I think my hollywood knowledge is pretty good. I get it all from Entourage... Good show. Used to be great, but still a solid half hour of entertainment. I can't see them shelving this flick now. Relocating the shoot yes, but with all of the pre-movie buzz that is out there it will go forward. Besides Warner/DC needs to start pumping out the films to cash in before the demand for superhero films wanes. If they play their cards right they could follow the formula Marvel is with solo movies leading up to the Avengers flick and cash in on GL, Flash, Batman, Supes, and Wonder Woman solos prior to a JLA movie.

  3. This is why I think the people hoarding 4.0 - 5.0 (or even 3.0, for some, I guess) copies of most bigger SA keys will do well in the next 5 - 10 years. These books will still be affordable for most collectors, while you will need a decent amount of disposable $$$ to play in the five figure market.
  4. I was just kidding. I hope to be able to snag an Action #1 and Tec #27 eventually too. (thumbs u Right now my gulp limit is around $5K for an individual book. But, just like the old $2K threshold, once you pop it there is no turning back.
  5. Was at Metropolis a few days ago. Saw at least 7 or 8 Showcase #22s. Not sure if they are on their site. What condition were they in? I know they had 6 - 8 copies at SDCC but the best was a GD/VG.
  6. Did Pacific Comic Exchange sell their CGC 3.0 copy for $850.00? Below are some recent sales from a few dealers. Metropolis 2.5 raw $475 Harley Yee 5.0 raw $1400 4.0 raw $ 900 I would say harley's copies were more like 4.0 and 3.0 (thumbs u Is the 5.0/4.0 the one he bought from Bechera at SDCC? Then it is a 4.0 at best.
  7. Nope. I snagged it for considerably less than that for a fellow board member. It isn't yours until we meet for the drop off.

  9. I have a buddy who reads VG to FN condition SA books in the jacuzzi tub - maybe this one suffered the same fate.
  10. Now press it and flip it as an 8.0/8.5 quick! Seriously, though, thanks for sharing and enjoy this wonderful book! (thumbs u
  11. But, it is such a nice copy......... My estimate is it probably will sell between $175-$300. I believe it was a $200 or so book at their booth in SD.
  12. But, it is such a nice copy.........
  13. Here is a great looking new copy of Showcase #22 on eBay (I think I saw it at the Metro booth at the SDCC). I wonder how high it will go? New Showcase #22 on eBay
  14. Good points. I stand corrected. (thumbs u My only issue is that CC has not been around long enough to have established a pattern of generating top prices. I consider the Action #1s in the past and those 9.6/9.8 highest graded DCs as gimmes to be honest - they would have fetched to dollar on either Clink or CC. However, I since this is a big $$$ book right now, I would probably go with whichever auction house gave me the best seller's rate (maybe negotiate 0% with CC?). Even a couple of points will mean decent coin in your pocket. (thumbs u
  15. I dunno about that. CC had some pretty good results with DC books. Tec 400, Flash 175. And of course, they set the bar with GL 76. Seems Sc 22 would be right up their ally. The current CL auction has very good books too, so I guess we can further judge prices realized. Yeah, but Clink would have realized those prices too on the GL 76, Tec 400, etc. since they were the highest graded copies. Where Clink tends to amaze me is their prices on non-key and non-highest graded books. CC might be the best place to go in a year or two from now, but right now Clink is still the safest bet IMHO based on their track record (which CC is still developing).
  16. I would probably lean towards Clink over Comicconnect right now, but that might change in a year or two when Cconnect gets more traction.
  17. BB28 suffers because it has a cover featuring the most power heroes in the universe battling... a giant starfish . One of the worst covers on a key issue. Conversely, SS22 gets a bump from having a terrific cover. Totally disagree on BB 28 being a dog cover -- JLA 1 blows, GL 1 blows, and a few others -- but BB 28 I think is a really cool iconic cover... and BB 28 is definitely thought of as having cache because the justice league enjoys such a widely recognized profile. What do you mean that the covers to JLA 1 and GL 1 blow? They are classics - who doesn't love a lame chess game cover or a giant puppet?
  18. B&B #28 is a cool book, but it is like Avengers #1 in that it is not a 1st appearance of a major character book. This is why I put #22 ahead of it. (thumbs u It also seems to be more readily available in decent shape than SC #22.
  19. Whichever book people think they can make money on. Honestly how many people who are buying all these Showcase 22's actually plan on holding this book for 2+ years ? I think there will be more people buying to hold than we think. I have talked with several collectors who are buying copies to hold now due to the price jump. I am in that camp as well - since it was a stagnant book for so long there really was no hurry to go out and get a copy. Now there is.
  20. Me too. Gil Kane has a lot to do with it... So... why aren`t you all Atom fans, then? For the same reason they aren't Hawkman, Flash, Aquaman, etc. fans.
  21. I was just kidding. (thumbs u Everyone knows that back in the 80s Action #1, Tec #27 or AF #15 were the books to go after.
  22. Fools - they should have been stockpiling #22 as we all know now.
