  1. eBay purchase? If yes, it sucks but I have had this happen before only to see the book relisted and sold at a higher price.
  2. It concerns me a bit, but I think that speculation is not rampant yet as most of the people I personally know who are buying them are collectors like me who viewed the book as price stagnant for the past 5 - 10 years. This initial ramp up is probably driven more by people who have always wanted one but have put off the purchase for a while since there was no hurry to buy one in the past. Now that the movie has been cast and prices have bumped up a bit we are all scrambling to get one.
  3. Don't be so sure. OSPG doesn't seem to bow to artificial movie hype demand when they consider raising a key books price. Marvel Spotlight #5 sells through the roof in high grade since that GR film was announced, but the guide still does not really reflect this because the book in by no means scarce and hasn't stood the test of time. OSPG may give GL #1 and SC #22 a slight bump, but they will wait until a clear trend over years is established before making a 20% or more increase, the way they did for GL #76. I agree with showcase22gr1959. But the 20% bump will come from record prices being fetched on the book, NOT the movie hype. As long as these #22 books continue to surface, I think record prices will be paid. Not because of the movie hype, but because many avid collectors have been looking for decades for premium grade #22s. They could care less about the movie. Just my opionion. Guys, if market value or movie hype had anything to do with OSPG prices would Action #1 still be a $45,000 book in 2.0 (current market value ~$100K)? Look at GL #76 pricing - even though OSPG was well off the mark for the past 5 years you did not finally see a significant increase until this year (and even now it is still off by quite a bit). It appears that they wait to see big jumps for a couple of years before moving things up in guide by more than the standard 8-10%. It is also a bit premature to start putting in price bumps since we don't know where this book will settle out yet. I would expect the big jump to come in the 20011 OSPG since the new price level will have stabilized a bit by then. In any case, buying those 5.0 copies from Rick (and the other one was kryptospidey, I believe) at $1200 was a steal a month ago.
  4. If GL #1 can hit the same 7.0 price as TOS #39 then I will be happy. Actually, Rick's July 26/09 pricing works fine for me with any SC #22s he picks up in the near future. (thumbs u
  5. You might see the nicest 9.0 go for that right now. I think that 5.0s will probably settle in around $2500 just like Avengers 1, JIM 83, TOS 39, etc.
  6. probably...I know I sold a 5.0 for $1500 at SDCC and I heard the guy I sold it to flipped it for 1750...it was cgc... Damn, it is rising fast. I wonder if it will suffer the same fate that Avengers #1 did early this year. It shot up fast for a couple of months, plateaued, and then fell back a bit.
  7. Does he still operate Pacific Comic Exchange? If yes, are the books listed on both sites?
  8. Richard, make no mistake about it. $10 grand is an OVERBID hoping anyone would sell a 7.5 at that price. It is not worth $10 grand. Anyone that pays that is purely speculating a price increase or just LOVES Green Lantern. And I do. It is not much of an overbid in the current market where demand far outsrips supply of copies. 9. Jus....jus......JUST GORGEOUS !! (Probably the best all round copy). Has superior PQ...not have the cream pages that it always has. . I think the 9.0 with OW pages and perfect centering is the best all round copy, but Rick's copy is definitely a gorgeous one as well. I agree...I would take a 9.0 with ow over a 7.5 with ow/w most every day of the week... that said, having owned about 10 copies in the past 3 months, and having chased a 8.0 that, quite honestly is NOT as nice looking as this copy, makes me VERY happy Definitely!

  11. Who's bigger, you or Rick ? Rick appears to be in the photos I have seen on the boards so no go for Roy in taking it away from him.
  12. SC #24 is not in as high demand, but an 8.0 copy is very sweet! (thumbs u
  13. Yes, but it is only a lowly 5.0.
  14. Right now is as good a time as any..................
  15. Very nice 6.0 - and welcome to the club!
  16. Even some of the 1960-62 DCs seem to be more common in CR/OW than OW or better. Must have been the difference in paper stock that DC used vs. Marvel? My experience has always been that DC paper stock was better than Marvel from the same period, and that it's not really that hard to find OW-W and W early SA DCs. Interesting. I think my view is skewed a bit by the fact that I have seen way more SA Marvels locally in Alberta than DCs and in almost all cases the Marvels had white pages (thanks to the dry, relatively cooler air up here), while even the few DCs I bought and slabbed were CR/OW to OW.
  17. Yikes! Looks like another book you have to buy now or pay a lot more later.
  18. Looks like GL #7 is a hot book now as well. Not a bad price for a copy with a detached cover: http://cgi.ebay.com/GREEN-LANTERN-7-July-Aug-1961-DC-Comic_W0QQitemZ190327113299QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2c50614653&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
  19. You need an Atom movie to be announced for the collecting public to take notice.

  21. For a very reasonable price too.
  22. Based on my submission experience, CGC is stricter in grading with DCs than they are with Marvels. My guess is that it has more to do with the volume of Marvel books they receive relative to DCs.
