  1. I don't think CGC committed fraud, but I do think they were negligent and responsible for restitution.
  2. I recently heard about a blue Hulk 181 that was cracked for cpr and was missing the stamp. CGC said they wouldn't cover the loss because they didn't crack open the holder, a presser did. I think CGC is in for a world of legal hell.
  3. CGC better hope he was the only one pulling this scam. They should track down all the cert #s this guy submitted and offer free re-grading and reimburse anyone who was scammed. CGC clearly failed here. The scary thing is if this is more widespread.
  4. The existing inventory waiting to be reholdered is the least of their worries. It will require QA to do their damn job and inspect the books. What is more concerning is how many scam books got through reholdering without scrutiny.
  5. That seems to be the most plausible explanation imho. It could be laziness at CGC QA or a loop hole in the custom label process. There is just no way someone would look at that book and think it's a 9.8.
  6. Has CGC always noted MJ on labels? If not, what year did they start? Maybe they didn't in 2012 when it was originally graded and QC just pushed it through rather than cut into the well and risk damaging the book?
  7. Regarding this con-artist selling books, has anyone been combing through the auctions to see if any of their books with distinctive characteristics (date stamp etc...) have turned up. I would assume he is selling them at a good discount to fmv and some would have popped up for resale by someone trying to flip for a quick buck.
  8. Do you get everything pressed just to be safe, even if the book looks like a 9.8 without a clean/press?
  9. Yup, ebay was charging a minimum of $20 to ship from Canada to US, but has been running a promotion of 40% off labels. Since they are just the middleman, how can they discount unless they were taking a cut? It's highway robbery.
  10. CGC is definitely getting better at spotting wet cleaning. At least this guy admits his guilt, but he raises a good point. What about all the wet cleaned books that passed as blue before CGC started catching on?
  11. This is what happens when people buy the grade rather than the book.
  12. I read people complaining about it in 2017, so I won't hold my breath. IDK why anyone would even use that service. It's a complete rip off, and I never have issues receiving books via USPS.
  13. Ebay is so frustrating. I reached out to a seller with an offer on 2 listings so I could combine shipping and they agreed. The seller had international shipping set to ebay global shipping. Apparently when you use this you can't do combined shipping or a discounted invoice. The seller got frustrated and stopped messaging and relisted the item. I don't even blame the seller. Ebay wanted to charge $40 shipping on 2 x 25$ comics, Googling ebay global shipping nets tons of complaints.
  14. I still remember buying this when it was first released: It was HUGE at the time. But I agree deaths are just a gimmick in most modern books. And don't even get me started on multiverses, alternate timelines etc...
